iOS 18.5 Beta 4 ― Bug Fixes, Changes, and Improvements

Have they fixed the no sound notifications on the mail app yet? Mine still has no sound notifications

Mine have been working properly on this latest beta, both iPhone and iPad.

iMessage photos show in the text thread but not in the photo gallery in iMessage for just some contacts. Others are working fine. Hope they fix this. Anyone else having iMessage issues?

I noticed this myself yesterday. I was looking for a picture I sent to my wife and I couldn’t find it in the gallery but I was sure I sent it to her. Scrolled back through the text history and found it there.

Yes! That’s the issue. I’ve tested this out and I’ve found that it’s only pictures that I send to contacts that don’t show in the photo gallery but are definitely there when I scroll back in the thread. Incoming pictures from the same contact do appear in the photo gallery. Sometimes even those pictures sent to me disappear from the photo gallery but then reappear a few days later.

But the the photos I send do not appear in the photo gallery. This is new since iOS 18.4.1 and even in this beta as well.

I reported it to Apple support and they said they don’t have any other reports of this issue (really?!) and they will tell the engineers.

Hopefully RC comes today as 18.4.1 has been locking up and lagging so badly. Just need something to bridge the gap until July when I get my Samsung Fold 7 and get away from this mess with Apple. I'd rather have options on the device I'm on

I mentioned to my wife that iOS 18 is pushing me towards an android. She laughed and said “you’ll never do it”.
She’s right, for now. But iOS is starting to feel like a 2017 version of android. I long for the days when the iPhone simply worked and got far better battery life.
When I was an android user I envied Apple users now I’m not so sure. I sure hope Apple gets their act together because I have everything Apple and want to stay that way.

Also, don’t bother doing all the things like toggling search and Siri and iMessage off and on on the device and iCloud and letting it index. I did all those things multiple times and it makes no difference. It’s definitely an Apple bug

Me too. I’m everything Apple but I’m getting tired of endless bugs and endless waiting for fixes. iOS 18 has been horrible. I’m hoping iOS 19 will be better- can it be worse?
