One thing I have noticed and I’ve reported to Apple in the past, is that my 16 Pro used to get noticeably warm when editing photos in the app and draining battery.

Editing some photos from today and it’s nowhere near as warm as it has been since using iOS 18.6 from the early betas.

On top of this, placebo or not this version feels even more polished! Everything just appears to be smoother and faster on my 16 Pro.

Plugged in my Apple 30w charger this morning and it’s barely getting warm.

Have yet to come across the random keyboard lag.

As has been stated further up in here, 18.6.1 is 4 builds newer. Apple have definitely tweaked 18.6.1 and not just added the blood oxygen feature.

Battery drain also seems improved with zero idle drain after over 2 hours off the charger and 55 mins of screen on time. Usually down to around 95% by this time. 16 Pro.

Definitely more than just activating the blood oxygen feature! 👌🏻😀
I set this phone up for battery life because I mainly game and watch shows on this 16PM, I don’t use any sensors or save any health data on this one. I do get hundreds of camera notifications and real time email push plus random notifications but 1% drain after two hours is impressive. If I let email push only every hour and silence camera notifications and turned off most location services, put low power mode on when not in use or outside daily I’m gonna see this weekend how the battery drain is.

It’ll be interesting to see how the battery life goes after a few days as it usually takes a good few days to settle down after installing, indexing etc.

How does compare iOS 18.6.1 to 18.6? Do you observe improvements somewhere?
Yeah I’m also interested. I saved the 18.6 IPSW before Apple released 18.6.1, just in case I should install the former, but I’m leaning towards 18.6.1 if it really has bug fixes and security patches. But Apple is being quite cryptic about it…

I’m getting far less to no heat at all. Everything running smooth and nothing to complain about. Battery life….i need to give it another day or so.

There is definitely more to 18.6.1 than just the oxygen blood feature activation.

As has already been said, this has made my 16 Pro have much less to no heating up episodes. It feels very smooth whilst navigating through the device and is super snappy and quick in everything.

Battery life seem a tad better to me too, will get a better idea after several days.

Also no keyboard lag that used to happen randomly.

AirPods Pro 2 keep breaking up and distorting audio since updating. Anyone else notice this?

I have the 18.6 ipsw downloaded, as well, but will it make any difference if Apple stop signing it?

I was perfectly happy on 18.6 but OTA'd to 18.6.1 for the pulse ox feature in case I grab an Apple Watch in the coming year. Crossing my fingers there are no new bugs.

When Apple stops signing a prior version, it can not be reinstalled.

This flaw initially went public a few days ago iOS 18.6 TCC Bypass. Seems almost too timely to not be apart of the patch? If not iOS 18.6.1 then iOS 18.6.2?
But is Apple aware of this behaviour and willing to correct it? Or it may be some sort of “Backdoor” from Apple that has been discovered?

What if Apple patches the way to catch it using the described method (using a Mac and a USB cable), but the privileges for Apple to access those sensitive data remains in place?

I’m just asking… because I haven’t read about this issue until today, and I read quite a few tech blogs.
