Spatial Audio support (AKA Dolby 5.1/7.1 and Atmos) for Airplay 2 has been added to all of Apple´s next operating systems, which in the case of the Homepods I guess it enables Atmos support when Airplaying from another device, which is currently limited to stereo.

I´m hoping that lossless support over Airplay comes soon too.

Lossless (CD quality) audio over Airplay has been available since 2004. Perhaps you’re thinking of higher rate audio?

@headlessmike

You are of course right.

But here is the thing.

Right now, lossless audio over Airplay (and Atmos), is not supported for Apple Music content within the Music app, and I´m specifically talking of Apple Music content. Locally stored content -that is, ripped by yourself- works perfectly fine. But currently, if you try to Airplay a lossless file from the Apple Music catalog while it´s being streamed/played by the source device, it gets transcoded in real time to AAC 256kbps. Dont ask me why. Probably DRM related issues.

I just logged into chatgpt to test Dall-E.

After testing it seems to be working pretty much like SIRI. Awesome!
