Do…people not let songs finish?

I think I turned crossfade on for 1 day in 2005, realized it was a ****** excuse for a DJ, and it's been off ever since.

I suppose variable lengths and beatmatching would be nice, but until the feature is able to identify which songs have an interesting intro (Prince' solo on When Doves Cry) or outro (the ending chord to A Day in the Life), crossfade doesn't feel like it's solving a real issue.

Many of the concept albums from the classic/prog rock eras are meant to be played with no transition. The music was written for a continuous vinyl groove. Crossfade only makes sense for a shuffled playlist or where album tracks are disjointed as a collection of individual songs.
Oh absolutely, imagine listening to Dark Side of the Moon with crossfade, madness!

My point is it doesn't make sense for other songs either - why would you want to miss the first few notes of the next song?

The tracks that popped in to my head first were Moonage Daydream by David Bowie, Common People by Pulp, the intro music from Final Fantasy 7, and Beethoven's 5th symphony (though I assume the Classical app doesn't have this feature), but there are countless where the start is important. Artists put effort into song openings for a reason.

Ever since I learned that some albums have songs that transition into the next song seamlessly, I turned off crossfade, probably 14 years ago or so. :p
Music players including Apple Music don’t cross fade between in-order songs of the same album.

I'm pretty sure it did when iTunes had crossfade back in the day, when I turned it off, so I never turned it back on. Good to know now, thanks.

What does the Android version have that iOS doesn’t? The crossfade option does its job just fine.
On the Android version you can choose between Automatic, where the Crossfade transition is automatically adjusted based on what song is playing, and manual like it's done on iOS
