Just hit 98% on my launch day iPhone 16 Pro

I have the 16 Pro Max that I got the day it was released. I show 102 charge cycles and 100% Maximum Capacity. I do not set any charge limit. I use a MagSafe charger every night, use my phone all day and rarely get to 50% battery by end of day which is why, I believe, my charge cycles are only 102. From reading Apple’s description of charge cycles if you use 25% of the battery each day, charging back to 100% each night, you would reach one charge cycle in 4 days. I’m probably reaching one cycle in about 3 days. Right now having been off the charger for 13 hours I’m at 71% battery. I never charge it during the day unless I’m on a trip using navigation.

Nah, I don’t set a charge limit.
Is your MagSafe charger rated 15 watts, like mines?
Saw another similar vid to the Cult of Mac and Brandon Butch videos on cycle count variations:

Also from another YTer I am familiar with. Zollotech

I am still on the fence about moving from 17.7 to 18.5. Is there a general consensus about making the move?

The only issues related to battery I've had is somewhere between 18.3 - 18.4, not a massive impact but it got back to normal again in 18.4.1

Tried on XS, SE2, SE3, iPhone 13, 13pro, a pile of 14 (around 1000) and 16, 16e, 16Pro.

My main phones are 16pro and 14, had a 13pro up until 18.4.1

Got it. That’s why I use a 90% limit for and when I go to school all day I keep it on 95% before but I don’t change it besides 90% for a few months now
I’ve been mainly at home with higher screen time the last few days, so I’ve been keeping it topped up using the 80% limit.

9,5h SOT and only 50% battery used is wild... my iPhone 15 Pro Max could never.
For the same 50% used I am getting around 2,5h on LTE and max 5h on WiFi lol and that's with 100% battery health 💀

You saw what he wrote? He topped the battery a few times, so no constant use and still at 50% 🤣

Yep. Once it gets down into the mid 50’s I just put it back on the charger and top it up back up to 80% limit 😄 it just saves some full cycles while I’m near the charger at home.

16 pro, right? I felt the same way as you since updating to iOS 18.5 on my iPhone 15 Pro.
My iPhone 16 pro unfortunately lost 1hr after 18.5. I was browsing for some info and I found this video.
In all screen on time average, it now doesn’t last as usual, right? Glad you found this thread. Many of us are seeing battery health changes in iOS 18.5.

That’s how it usually is when I’m only doing errands and I’m off school, only work remotely every Tuesday.

I use 90% as I am usually off the charger for ~15 hours a day on a long day.

Y’all I heard from my friend that used to work for Apple and manufacture Apple A-series chips and he also explained how iPhone batteries drain easily. He said that iPhones 12 and later batteries are built differently than the iPhones before that, and degrade faster which contributes the importance of maintaining battery health to maintain peak performance through charge limits/optimized charging. Another measure y'all can do is that in the Mail app, you can also set your emails to push to retrieve data/new mail instead of your iPhone constantly checking for new emails every second.

Role of modem chips in iPhones especially now with Apple's 1st party modem C1 in iPhone 16e; do play a role in cellular data usage and correlation of battery health. AOD, we do not see it as a significant change of battery health but Auto-Lock definitely would prefer a shorter duration to prevent rapid battery drain.
