But then when it automatically changes to light mode in the morning you’ve got the wrong icon again.

I don’t get why Apple is obsessed with dark mode icons, but I really wish more attention was given to fixing bugs. 🙄
I don't think that Apple is obsessed with them. All they did was offer them as an option. This elaborate workaround for apps that haven't taken advantage of it yet was thought up by a user.

I wish you could remove the words at the bottom without increasing the size of the icons too.
I think that would look weird unless you increase the number of columns and rows to make them small icons, more tightly arranged. Could easily go 7 tall x 5 wide (8x5 including the dock row). However, based on how janky the grid is to rearrange things on the screen in iOS 18, I am pretty sure Apple would need a much bigger rework of Springboard.

Apple has not made dark icons for all of their apps!!!!

The "Apple Store" icon on my older iPhone 11 and older iPad 8th Gen. are bright white.

I think they're just responding to customer demand - though personally I've never really understood why to some people, having dark mode seems to be more important than almost anything else in an app. Yeah, it's a nice to have, but just look at how much online coverage there sometimes is just because an app update has added a dark mode.

“relatively simple method”

Simple???

BTW I wonder Why Apple themselves still have apps with outdated icons. TestFlight, iMovie, GarageBand, etc.

Wait, iOS18 has dark mode icons?? That's funny, because mines been set to Dark Mode since the day I bought it (13 non Pro) and funny, the desktop on my iPhone looks nothing like my iPad Pro which DID get the dark mode icons..
