More likely tomorrow given the election and that they normally space out the first public beta 2 days from the corresponding dev beta.
Since Apple has removed the AI exclusive filter and seeded the other OS’s it due in the near future. Indeed it’s more likely Wednesday as gwizkids said, but it’s certainly possible today.
Yes. There is still no public beta. I expect that to change tomorrow.
So, will we see 18.2 public beta today guys, or possibly 18.1.1…? Probably no more action this week I guess, have to wait until next week! Would also bet on public beta when we see 18.2b3!
Since Apple has made available all seeds to all devices there is no reason why not a PB today.
While I’m not sure it works that way I do agree a PB is probably in the offing for today.
I’ve been running betas for quite some time now, but the entire process of speculating and releasing the software is completely new to me. Could someone explain the reason behind pushing public betas a day or two behind the developer beta? Do they conduct additional testing before releasing the public beta?
I guess mostly to make sure that new builds are not bricking devices which less-experienced users might have issues dealing with. Depends on the device, of course, if it's an Apple Watch, you would have to take it to an Apple Store, and if you can reduce the number of such occurrences, of course it's wise to do so.
And, as you will notice as we move along the process, the time gap between the release of the developer beta and the corresponding public beta will decrease until it’s just a few hours. That reflects Apple’s increased confidence that the software will not cause issues.
Even if it's still not really a guarantee (reference). These were not even first betas – quite the opposite – the iOS 18 was in RC for a few weeks before the official release, yet it still bricked the iPads.
