Well it’s unheard of that my Air is still at 100% after over 2 hours off the charger!

Where are you seeing lag? This actually feels really good, but then previous versions seem to have been ok for a while before some minor lags and micro stutters creep back in. See how this goes.
Home screen switching pages, general lag in apps at times like opening menus etc, pretty standard for iOS 26.

I updated my 15 Pro Max to 26.5.2 with Apple Devices. Installation went smoothly and quickly.

However it still has the bug where the phone refuses to install the apps for PayPal or Imgur

I would never expect a security update to ruin my battery. also when I unlock my phone it lags. Iphone 17 pro. ios 26 is maybe the worst version of ios so far.

Works fine on my 16 Pro. Also using it on a iphone 14 and regular 16 and iPad Pro M1 with no issues. Initially I experienced Safari a bit slower, but could have been network issues since it has disappeared.

Or could be the dozens of WebKit patches it carries… although if it’s been a temporary thing, it’s less likely that could be the cause.

How’s your battery life on your iPhone 14? Apparently it’s not as awesome as 26.5 but given the number of exploits fixed, maybe it’s worth updating now instead of waiting for iOS 26.6

With all this damn AI thing discovering more and more holes in software’s security… I’m afraid updates will have to be made more regularly…

Sadly, that’s usually the case. Major update versions are released after a long time of testing and refinement… but x.x.x releases with security patches aren’t that refined and may cause a bigger power consumption. That’s why I usually don’t like this minor updates. Some people say it is impossible that a minor update affects battery life or even performance, but from what I’ve seen during the last years is the contrary.

I’m not sure how exposed are our devices if we skip the minor version updates and only do it after a major update, but it is clear that AI has changed the rules…

It works fine on my 14, but its a fairly clean test device. Have installed a handfull of extra apps and I have played around with it for half an hour or so. After that it's just laying around powered on. I have a few devices at work that has had it installed and haven't heard anyone say anything (yet) neither good or bad.

Spot-on, smaller updates aren't as tested as the large ones. And they can contain all from security patches for apps (such as safari) to firmware updates which all can have an impact on battery life, good or bad.

I am finding on this version that my iPhone isn’t auto connecting to many WiFi networks that it is already familiar with and clearly has set to automatically connect in the connection settings

Battery is trash on my 17 Pro Max. Even worse than 26.5.1, I’m starting to disable features to get through the day, which I shouldn’t have to do on the latest Pro Max iPhone FFS.

I’ve noticed with my test iPhone that in the past few days it has dropped the battery without even waking it up. So there’s this idle battery drain that maybe is due to the reindexing thing… or not.

So I’m going to update my main iPhone to iOS 26.5, before Apple stops signing it, and then, I’ll keep an eye to the test iPhone that is on 26.5.2, to see if the idle drain stops or continues…

26.5.2 has been slightly better with battery life on my Air vs the terrible 26.5.1 release, so I wouldn’t want to go back to that! Performance and overall smoothness is better on 26.5.2.

The inconsistencies between devices is crazy. A lot of backwards and forwards with each release, Apple just can’t sort out iOS 26 and make it uniformly stable!

How can you be sure it’d be better if it was never released?
You can always go back to 26.5 or wait for 26.6 though.
I didn’t install 26.5, that would be a big no from me. I will not be installing 26.6 either it looks like. Probably stuck on 26.5.2 until October.

So you’re more comfortable with an imaginary update for your device than one that actually exists?
What’s wrong with 26.6 anyway? More complaints about battery life on 26.5.2 than 26.6 betas.

There’s no way I’m installing a beta when I’m going to be traveling and need a somewhat dependable device. I’m not in that big of a rush to try the nonexistent feature updates
