And two more weeks to the next round of iOS 27 updates.. I'm quite happy with beta 4 on all my gear, very well executed on Apple's part. Especially when comparing to all the soft-effort of iOS 26, as it appeared to me..

Interesting… I thought I had Apple keynote date down to a science… but there’s no way they do pre-orders on 9/11 or make iPhone release date 9/11…
I wonder, if they will do keynote.. aug 24/25.. pre-orders on August 28 and release date on sept 4..
Otherwise… keynote won’t be until sept 14th or so..

I would guess they need as much as time as possible to ensure they have stock of the foldable so Sept 14th keynote, 18th pre-orders and 25th launch date would be my guess.
This got me curious. The only precedent we have for this are the iPhone 6S and 12 Pro.
The 6S got a mid-week unveil and pre-order date, and the 12 Pro got pushed to October. Personally, I think they’ll host the iPhone 18 event on Sep 14, open pre-orders Sep 18, then release the phones Sep 25 this year.

If you're saying this due to the significance of that date as it relates to terrorism: with all due respect, I would have to disagree. I would argue that a date on the calendar does not become "off limits" for product announcements because of an infamous event associated with that date; it means that the significance of the day should be respectfully acknowledged within the context of the announcement.
I would even go so far as to argue that a society actively choosing to minimize the negative impact that a terrorist event has had on all of our lives can in some way reclaim from them the power that they still hold over us, a quarter of a century later. Mind you, we should not forget history -- but we also should not let evil people turn all of the days of our lives into days of mourning. If we permit that... they win.
How about now, maybe this morning at 10am PST? I don't ever remember the PB taking 2 days longer than the dev beta once we were into the 2nd PB.

What’s the problem with PB1 on HomePod?
My two minis are working better than ever before with 27 PB1 (no streaming pauses using TuneIn that were present throughout all 26-Versions).
I agree with you in principle.
In practice for the companies themselves, however, I think it’s a potential complication that they rather avoid entirely.
Even if/when “the significance of the day is respectfully acknowledged”, some people are going to take issue with the acknowledgement and/or argue that the day should be free of such things—especially in this “hot take” culture with social media giving everyone a platform, and media outlets always looking to report “controversy”, especially on Apple given its prominence.
I agree it shouldn’t be this way, but I think that it is for the companies.
As such, I don’t think anything will be announced for 9/11—but would be happy to be wrong.
Anyway, hope PB2 comes today!

I honestly wasn't expecting the PB2 so soon. If we get the DB5 on Monday, I think the launch of the iPhone 18 Pro and the foldable iPhone might be brought forward.
Maybe I’m reaching, but the more I use iOS 27, the more it feels like a long-term evolution of iOS 6. Shapes are all rounded again like they used to be, but definitely more uniform than early years of iOS. Some drop-shadows are similar as well. Controls all have distinct borders again.
I don’t think Apple has hit that “lickable” goal yet, though. I hope they lean into it 10% more in the next couple of months.

I really like ios 27 so far. Haven’t had this huge pain with ios 26 as many others (as it seems) but now it feels faster and more refined. I do like the liquid glass in general but now it works so much better. They dialed it down on the right spots in my opinion. Having the transparency maxed out it the settings.

While I hear you... It's more of respect for all the people and first responders that died.... The announcement is going to be overshadowed..... Apple wants all eyes.... And that will take all eyes away.... Thats not a good marketing play
