Excellent thread.
Didn't know about the open in background in safari.

Much appreciate it.

This should be a sticky!

Nice thread, very useful, I just find it annoying that you can't actually open an email to read it in its entirety when the screen is locked with a passcode.

Don't forget Settings / General / Accessibility "LED Flash for Alerts"

Yup, heard about that one. However, as noted by Acronym below, that is for the 4/4S and I'm on a 3GS. If you want to send me some 4/4S-specific screenshots, feel free and I'll look to get them added.

that is for the 4/4S this is for the 3GS :p

Correct.

This thread was originally titled "iOS 5 and the iPhone 3GS: A visual guide" but after suggestions from other readers that this helped them with their 4/4S and a specific suggestion to change the name, I did just that and renamed it to simply "iOS 5: A visual guide".

how does showing pictures prove it runs good?

The images aren't meant to prove how it runs. My first paragraph is sort of a two-part paragraph where I say it runs good (for me, at least) and then to show what some of the new features are. The two are separate from one another.

Got a question about the multiple app downloads at the same time:
Do you have any clue how to enable it?
My phone only download one app at a time.

Nope, don't know how to enable it (or disable it for me, for that matter). Under what circumstance are you trying to download multiple apps? Are you downloading new apps or updating apps via the App Store "Updates" section?

How about the + volume to snap a photo.
ALSO
You can use the headphone + volume button to snap a photo. A nice way to have a remote for your camera.

For what it's worth I've noticed that whilst updating apps, 2 apps can update simultaneously.

oh, hmmm. Maybe its only for updating that they simultaneously start at once?
Anyone tried downloading to see if more than one starts at a time?

I'm testing this now...

Just tried this and actually couldn't select an app to download and go back to the App Store and select another app to download quickly enough for the first app to still be downloading (it had started installing by the time I'd selected the second app).
