I wondered who would come up with that insulting comment first. That seems to be common attack against people who don't like iOS 7. It's plain stupid. It's insulting. It's offensive.

I like change just fine. Which is why I upgraded the day iOS 7 became available. Just like I'm embracing change by looking at leaving the iOS world and embracing new technology. I just prefer my "change" to be for the better, which iOS 7 certainly is not.

And please don't make this an iOS vs Android thing. That's your battle, not mine. I've used every OS out there, Cept for windows, and am open to anything.

Done helping you, good luck.

I hear you. But have you thought about the marketers - I read that they are more profitable on iOS. But if you have no concern for them whatsoever, read on. :p

Your choices are Android and distantly Windows Phone. I'd say give Android a shot - try out the Moto X, HTC One, Nexus 4 (eBay), Nexus 5 (wait), and lastly the S4 and Note 3. If that doesn't work out then get any Windows Phone - they're mostly the same from OS standpoint but if you like Nokia hardware try theirs.

Thanks for the heads up on the marketers. I'll definitely take their well being into account when I make my decision. :)

No love for Blackberry? Only 79 million users world wide, so they aren't totally dead yet. And I do like BB10.

Have you thought about the Moto X? It's supposed to be touted as a simple to use, and stopped competing on specs.

I don't feel comfortable recommending BB to anyone just yet. If somebody buys them and puts them back in the race - even I might buy one myself. But until there's clarity on what is going to happen with them - I'd stay away.

Hi, also in the market/"refugee" :) & for similar reasons as Perse, HEAVY full-time user (ditto, I totally "get" it; & am glad you told off the snotnose):

1. Which Androids have 64gig or more? That's just one "must" I'm looking for. Knowing that right off the bat would help narrow the field. (Most I've read about either don't say or seem to be small HD, max 32gig).

2. The other thing is size. Can't hold man-size phones. Current 3Gs fills my "lady-palm" as is: 3Gs:*2.4-Wide_4.5-Tall_4.8-Ozs.

3. Is there a good "android forum" you would recommend for getting more specific details on apps & hardware? (So far, in another slower thread, my "needs list" doesn't match other users' needs):

Thank you!

The S4 has the expandable storage so that's a plus. To me, 5" display is the sweet spot...but then again, I have "man hands" lol. As a lot of people have been saying, the moto x is a damn good phone. I played with my friends moto and it feels GREAT in the hand. No expandable storage though and no 1080p display. Go to best buy, try out the different phones...see how they feel in the hand. You'll be surprised at how easy a 5" phone feels. Not to mention the 1080p displays look absolutely amazing. I have an S4 and it's awesome. Still waiting for the Nexus 5 though :D

Thank you!

The 64GB minimum storage requirement will limit your choices to Samsung devices (expandable storage), HTC One (AT&T only? ), and the iPhone, at least in the US.

Haha, JerzyT28, you mean 5" tall, not 5" across like ipad-mini, right? ;) j/k. Hope 5" tall would not be "top heavy" (ie, 2" above tip of index finger as held from back of phone, current 3Gs approx. 1" higher).

Samsung Galaxy S4 expandable storage might be good, though having to mess w/SD cards or whatever seems like a hassle, would have to switch them in & out to, say, just skim through gobs of photos, etc.? (never used SD cards before). Phone makers don't seem to think big enough. They can't yet keep up w/human ingenuity & creative pursuits. Why not just put more memory on the HDs to start with?

Thanks for the Moto-X story. Your passion is duly noted & appreciated. ;) (jiving w/you).

From what I've heard, Nexus-5 will only be 32gig HD, but maybe that was speculation & final product will offer bigger options. Hope so.

1080 screen I'm sure would be a huge improvement over current 3Gs. But if I can't "create" & store on such a phone all my stuff, it would defeat the purpose of upgrading. :(

Another big concern is Android apps. I always hear they have tons of apps, too. But do they offer equivalents/better than:
--Notes, Notes, & more Notes!
--Reel Director (create slideshow/videos),
--Panoramatic360 (create blended, stiched, banner-length photo-stories),
--Layers (layer pics on top of each other),
--Crop N Frame (matts & frames),
--Roll Swap (swaps out camera roll for a blank one, add more photos, 16 rolls in all + original, 17),
--RAM Memory Sweeper (self-explanatory),
--Etc., just to name a few "mission critical" iphone apps (& fwiw, apple axed the last 2 early on, which is why I stopped updating ios. The painful cries from users in app store who DL w/o knowing was a huge "reality check" & teacher early on. Since then I tread very cautiously within the Apple can-never-go-back ecosystem.)

Due to health reasons cannot go test phones in a store. Have to send others who have less "phone smarts" than even I do, so will have to tell them specifically what to buy. Hence, the reason I always seek great detail in advance. It's a pain but whatchagonnado? :D

Thanks again for your opinions!

Ok, very good, tbayrgs, thank you! Zooming in on lesser choices will actually make add'l research easier. Since I already know iphone options, I just need to go dig deeper re Samsung & HTC.

Then apps apps apps research, for equivalents. Thanks again!

I guess being in Canada makes me a little more supportive of Blackberry.

You wont find the combo of all that on an Android phone. Ive owned 10 of them, every manufacturer, so I should know.

Negative and no real information.

Well if iOS 7 is too complicated for you to use, you definitely want to avoid Android.

Insult his intellect a little more, why don't you.

Ok, well you mentioned "simplicity" and "ease of use" as your big concerns but then a post later said you wont find that on an iPhone running iOS 7. That sounded to me like you were saying iOS 7 was too complicated for you. What do you mean then?

Insulting the OP?

I see. Well I am not sure what to tell you other than try out some phones and see what you like. Ive owned Samsung, HTC, LG and Motorola Android phones and used all their UIs. I find iOS to be much easier to use then any of them and Siri is more advanced and does more for you than S voice or any of the other assistants on Android. Try some out though.

Short version, "try what you want, but this feature is not as good", w/o knowing it's relevancy.

Sounds like you dont like change. You do realize the Android OS changes MUCH more frequently than iOS right? Its changed about 4-5 times just in the last few years.

Insult again.

Done helping you, good luck.

Laughing... my... f... a... off... Where in all of these posts did you offer help?

You don't like anything about Android, we get it. Why not just move along?

OP, the Note 3 is a multitasking power house and has the expandable storage you're looking for. If it isn't too large, it may be the perfect phone for you... my only concern would be outdoor use in bright sunlight, as it will not be what you are accustomed to... I recommend trying one out from a retailer that doesn't charge restocking fees and see if it works for you.

The more I look at them, the more I'm convinced that the Note3 is the best option out there. I like the Z30 also, but the Samsung has the option of easy resale if I end up not liking it, while I figure the BB will be more hit and miss that way.

Thanks for the outdoor use tip. I'll keep that in mind!

Btw, anyone know how the headset volume is on the Note3? I've heard that the Galaxy series tends to be on the quiet side.

AFter a couple of hours in the Apple store, we got my iphone 5 with iOS 6 and all the apps up and running again. Really made me appreciate what brilliant products the iphone 5 and iOS 6 were. Hopefully, Apple smartens up and looks after their installed base of customers with some upgrades to iOS 7 in the future. But in the mean time, I'm happily staying with my iPhone 5 and iOS 6.
