No way it would be smart to release purely optional software during a time when your having major system outages. So even IF today was planed to be the day, I just can't see pushing it today unless they get those systems fixed.

I simply stated "Looks like nothing today"...wasn't trying to imply that a release today was absolutely necessary.

Your post. It just doesn't make sense to me.
Earlier you could always count on them to release betas on Tuesday with a two or three weeks gap and always at 10a.m. PT. But now it's all up in the air, they can release it a few mins. or hours later after 10, plus now you can't even count on the day, just see the past release!

You couldn't really ever count on much. Many times it was on a Tuesday, but plenty of times it was on other days. If anything this just further supports the point that there really wasn't much to count on even before, let alone now.

I had the public beta profile on my phone and installed the public beta when it first came out. I have since gone back to 8.4. Today I put the public beta profile back on in hopes to download the beta again.... when i go to software update, it just spinwheels saying checking for update... thoughts? I did a hard reset already

What about the time? You could always count on it to be there by 10, now you just can't!

That wasn't my point. My point was that with all of the system outages in progress, plans may have needed to change. My comment about this being optional software is about that no important function of Apple's ops are dependent on if these betas are released today or not. So why push them and risk more problems during what I see as the 2nd embarrassing internet services outage in a 3 week span.

It was usually around 10, but not always by 10. But even then that's just "usually", no real counting on anything (people certainly wanted to count on things and some started to, but that doesn't mean there really was something to actual count on vs simply being something that is usually the case, but not always).

As Apple in general usually says or implies in one way another: it will be out when it's ready, but not before.

The fact is there is no "schedule" Apple follow. They'll release a beta whenever they damn want!

I hope it's released tomorrow if not it'll likely be next Tuesday. Beta's might be in the three week cycle from now on.

Everyone needs to chill-out! Just got an update and the release has been OFFICIALLY CONFIRMED for tomorrow at 10 a.m.!!!

BGR has been good lately. They correctly predicted beta 3. And now they're silent meaning no beta 4 today. I'm impressed.
They correctly "predicted" beta 3 when they published that it's out a day early? Doesn't seem like it. They do their guessing, and just like most, they simply happen to be right sometimes, and wrong other times.

Apple may very well release 8-9 betas. In that case, they'd need to stick to two-week cycle, if not every week.

Nah, BGR was simply spewing BS out of their hat. They got burned several times and decided damage to their already paper thin credibility is not worth some page clicks.
