I have the 6+ and the other half has the 6. Both are running considerably slower since iOS 9. That and a whole list of problems make me really wish I hadn't upgraded just yet.

- cannot contact mail server in mail.
- touch screen unresponsive.
- freezing completely for no known reason.
- freezing every time you try to access the camera with the slide up from bottom right function.
- connectivity issues with Apple Watch (not ringing etc, notification lag).
- activity keeps reverting back to metric.

Is it just randomly the two phones that just happen to be in the same house or is this update flawed?

I would say that its more likely the problems are with your phones. The update is definitely not flawed. Millions are using it - on devices older than yours - with few or no issues at all. I'd head to an Apple Store to have them look at the phones.

You aren't imagining things - my wife and I are seeing some of these issues on our 6 plus'.

I'm seeing the following:
- random touchscreen freezing (lock and unlock generally fixes it).
- messages app crashes occasionally when you attempt to take and insert a photo using the camera icon (works fine if you just attach an existing image via the photo album)
- loading the camera from the lock screen slide up is slower than normal.

I haven't noticed any connectivity issues with the Apple Watch.

I had this issues wayyyyy too often with iOS8. iOS9 reduced it dramatically though.

8.4.1 is superb on my 5s. No issues whatsoever. iOS 9.0 or 9.0.1 wasn't, so I downgraded. It depends a bit on what you have on your phone I guess. (Saying a bit because iOS 9 is generally slow on most devices, even freshly restored ones.)

I'm very efficient on what I have on mine. I only have the absolutely necessary apps, games, etc., and I hate keeping junk. I even delete all my messages. I guess this helps a bit.

Try restoring from a backup or setting up as new. Both will help. You can't downgrade anymore, so just survive iOS 9 for now. :p

I, too, am having issues. Iphone 6, running perfectly until I installed ios9. Now I have occasional stutters, keyboard froze up once, random restart once. Yesterday, I clicked on a video on facebook and the speakers played full volume static sound! Startling to say the least! I tried another video, youtube, tried playing a song, same thing. A restart after each incident has corrected things, but I'm irritated that I don't have my awesome running Iphone 6 anymore.

I am experiencing many of the OP list on my 6+. I started from a clean install of the GM, then did another clean install of 9. Since 9, I only did upgrades (no clean install).

I also get delays in the top bar showing up from unlock
Mail app sometimes shows a white screen for a while before it loads
lags when returning from the search bar on the home screen (spotlight search) (not every time, maybe 3-4 out of every 10 times)
lags when returning from siri suggestions (not every time, maybe 3-4 out of every 10 times)
safari takes a while to open, much like the mail app it sits there white for a while
every once in a while the mail app shows 1000+ emails in the badge, then the home screen resprings back to the correct number.

Same for my wife's 6 plus and mine... I swear everyday the screen is freezing more and more. 9.0.2 here.

- Almost no apps installed besides social media
- iPhones 1 month old
- 64gb versions

I don't believe the "new update making last year models obsolete". But there are definitely some serious bugs on iOS 9.

Clean installs or updates?

1. I'd look at resetting the device erasing everything and then setting as new or doing a restore to see if that fixes things.

2. Download the latest IPSW file for 9.0.2 and then perform a clean install. If you did a restore and it's still acting crazy, set up as new to see if it's an app or something that is causing the problem.

If I were a betting man, one of those options will resolve your issues unless you have a faulty component in your device like SSD and need to contact Apple. They can run diagnostics via text message or support website.

Op. Honesty half your issues would be solved with a clean install of iOS. But I too had a fair few issues and 99% of them went away when I moved to iOS9.1

I would highly recommend downloading the public beta and give it a try. No need to turn off eye candy to fix issues.

That is the one thing that irritates me most about iOS, Apple CS and Genius .... do a reset and setup as new.
WTF!?! I don't have any other device that I have to do that on. We used to hammer on MS for that. If that is going to be the default "fix", why doesn't Apple just set things to always do a "as new" upgrade. OTA or cabled.
  • Since I upgraded my iMini 3 LTE 64GB to iOS9 - 1 OTA, 1 reset and restore, 2 reset as new (it fixed 40% of the specific iOS9 issues)
  • Since I upgraded my 6+ 64GB to iOS9 - 1 OTA, 1 reset and restore, 1 reset as new (it fixed 50% of the specific iOS9 issues)
  • Since I received my 6S+ 64GB on iOS9 - 1 restore and 1 reset as new (it fixed 100% of the specific issues)

3 of the "reset as new" was at direction of Apple. Mind you, the issues being addressed I did not have under 8.4.1. (excluding the 6S+ of course)
In my opinion it is out of control.

.. he steps down from the soapbox and exits, stage left ... :eek:o_O:confused:

I'm staying on 8.4 (jailbroken, of course).

Having been an Apple user since the nineties, it is pathetic that the solution for every issue on an iOS device is "nuke and repave" by resetting as new. It really is *exactly* the kind of "technique" we used to mock Microsoft for.

Bad sign.

Its not a solution per se, but something that can reset things basically. A very standard computing practice no matter what platform is involved.

It's a "standard practice" that we widely mocked Microsoft for, because it is hamfisted, and doesn't even restore data properly—it's really ******, basically. It deserves to be mocked.

I mean, that "solution" means every time your phone acts even a little out of line, the first (and pretty much only) thing we do is wipe it clean, destroying all your text messages, all your settings in all your apps—it's ridiculous that this is the only real troubleshooting step.

I'm just telling you, Apple fans of another age would know what I'm talking about.

Perhaps those who just want to mock or don't really know much about computing have been doing that, but those who understand it all were not mocking anything, and still aren't. And clearly this isn't the only nor even one of the first few troubleshooting steps at all. Sounds like quite a bit of unnecessary hyperbole in a lot of that to try to make some point that wouldn't stand without all that hyperbole.

That simply isn't true. Since Apple provides no finder access or guidance to the user folder, the steps are almost always:

1)Update to latest OS.

2)Reinstall OS, with your backup.

Then if not fixed:

3)Reinstall OS, new user.

Everyone knows this—it's listed on Apple's site, and we've all experienced it.

Imagine this for a Mac. There's a faulty preference file in your ~/Library folder, but Apple's solution would be to update, then reinstall...and if that doesn't work, blank the drive with a fresh OS and then start over.

People would revolt, because it's idiotic. But our iOS devices live in the dark ages of troubleshooting, even though we are on the 9th revision of the OS.

You are saying letting average people mess with the file system in their phones is going to result in something useful in most instances when the majority of those people don't even know how to access the recently used apps or the Notification Center or even know what it is?

Agreed. I have posted elsewhere, if Apple just gave me the ability to restore all the apps in bulk and have them go into the correct folders, I would never bother with a restore from backup, I would always do a clean install. Then I would enable this "script" of app installations which should work much better than whatever the mess is that happens with the current restore process.

I'm having issues too. Mail is so slow and unresponsive. Camera takes a while to load and at random times screen is not responsive so have to do a cold reboot. 6 Plus here

Funny, my son's 5s runs super smooth on ios9 though...
