While we're on this subject of images in email on iOS 10. Something else that's disappeared that was also useful is the 'save all images' when there was several attachments emailed to you. So that's two reasons why this seems like a downgrade in Mail. For me anyway.

P.S. that GMAIL option, by the way, doesn't work. You can attach as many pics as you want to it then send from GMAIL, Never once received it on a test using it.

Be nice if Apple hear from others having the same problem of losing the over 5 attach and the 'save all images' options that have disappeared from the 'wonderful iOS10'. It's made my admin working life harder.

Finding some of the same.
I can open the Camera Roll, select a gob of pics, slap them into a stock Apple email and send. No problem.
I can the open that email in the receiving email on the stock Apple email app, touch a image and select the option to save X images; X being the total number of images in the email. Go to the Camera Roll and find that it only saved the first 5. If I save them one at a time, I can save them all.
iOS10 on 6S+.

Edit: replaced term "photos" with "images"

I was in Apple store yesterday and showed the problem to a couple of 'genius'. No surprise they had no clue about it and just... what do you want us to do about it type answer, Am sure it's a bug and not an intentional downgrade from iOS 9.

iOS update has given me back the option to tick over 5 images to email now, but I still don't have the 'save images' back in Apple email. Have to save one at a time. Clicking reply used to bring the save all images option. That's still not back for me. Anyone else?

Can select >5 to send, an only save =>5 or 1.

Have you the option when you click reply on email to 'save all images'? As that option has totally disappeared for me.

When I get an email with this, I get a Save Image or Save X Images. However when I click on Save X Images it only saves the first 5.

I selected 7 photos from my iPad Mini and sent them to my iPhone 6S+.

It's back? I already gave up the stock mail app and just use the Inbox app for my gmail these days

The option to send more than 5 pics is back for me yes. But the 'save all images' isn't, which is a pain when there are several. Presume that app you're talking about is OK for Gmail? But doesn't solve others.

This matter has bugged me a lot with the Photo sharing. For some apps the limit is 1 for others it's 5,10,20 but for others 40+ photos are fine. In my case with my 5s/SE and the latest official iOS10 version I can use:

* Apple Mail app, Gmail, Email by Easylido, Spark, Airmail, Telegram, Messenger - 40+ photos
* Facebook - maximum 30
* Apple (i)Message app - maximum 20
* WhatsApp - was maximum 30 (since 23-1-2017, was previously 10) but again 10 with iOS10.3.1 and latest app version (1-5-2017)
* Google Drive - maximum 10
* Dropbox - maximum 1 - solution is using Workflow though with this

I don't get it. It seems that the developers need to build this in. Especially for WhatsApp I have to split it up now. Although I'm now looking into Workflow app if there is one for them as well. Like I use to export multiple photos to a specific Dropbox folder.

It doesn't make much sense why some do some don't. There are other 5S users with no issue, and some 6/s with the same issue. We await another fix! First update of iOS I've had which hasn't righted itself and is so buggy and otherwise.

Tried the send 7 photos and save photos on an iPad Mini 4 (LTE), iPhone 6S+, iPhone 6+.
Had the same result with all three. Allows save image or save 7 images. When you select Save 7 Images it only saves the first 5. o_O
