iTunes 12.2.2 X64 (On Windows 10) not syncing Apps. It is not able to Transfer any purchases from my iPhone 5S or iPad Air 2 which have iOS 9 GM installed.

I can install my already synced apps on both the devices from iTunes manually. But few of my apps got updated today on iPad and in order to save few GBs for them to redownload on all my other devices, I connected the iPad Air 2 to Windows 10 X64 iTunes, pressed Ctrl B to show menu bar then clicked on File -> Devices -> Transfer purchases from "sanke1's iPad"

Nothing. It will not update old apps on my iTunes library of the pc. It finishes sync in 2-3 seconds and stops without any error.

So I deleted my iTunes library folder to start afresh. But still it wouldn't let me transfer purchased apps.
Either iOS 9 is not fully compatible with iTunes 12.2.2 or either one of them is buggy.

Anyone with same problem?

Edit: Same problem with iTunes 12.3 X64 on Windows 10.

have this for too long already. tried asking but got no response, been like this for over a month & its on apple forums too with multiple cases of it & it started long before gm..looks more like itunes instead of ios 9, they wouldnt shouldnt let a gm go by with a bug like that. itunes 12.2.1 wont even detect ios 9 at all..

I do have the same problem of being unable to sync updated apps back to my Mac (and the Mac is on the 10.11 GM Candidate.) I'm hoping to see a new version of iTunes later today.

if you look at the software requirements for iphone 6s it shows iTunes 12.3 or later

expect an update before the iphone is released. i'm assuming today for iOS 9 support and the new iPhones.

I can't believe this bug was never spotted in any of the previous betas. Is any kind of syncing to PC or an iMac dead concept in 2015?

LMAO.

Is this bug occuring to just the few of us or is everyone affected by it?

It's not working for me either. Its downloading the apps instead and not even syncing my music. Itunes 12.2 on Windows 10 with iPhone 5s. This is the worst software update I've seen so far, nothing but problems. I've tried 5 times now to restore my iphone and restore backup but it doesn't work.

I had many problems like you guys. What fixed it for me was uninstalling iTunes and reinstalling it. Not sure if it will fix your problems, but it might be worth a shot.

Having the same problem but on Yosemite since iOS 9 GM with iTunes 12.2.2.
iOS 9 final and iTunes 12.3 didn't fix this either.

P.S. I updated to the final release OTA from iOS 9 GM.

i had the same problem. at one point the iPhone asked me for my iTunes password randomly so i did that but nothing changed. i noticed that my iPhone started to download the apps instead of synching them from my iTunes. I noticed that if i unplug the iphone and plug it back in it would synch about 11 apps before it stopped again so i did that like 9 times to get all my apps back on the iPhone

edit: it also DID NOT restore the app data of all my apps. i am just glad it restored the most important ones however

Updated iTunes to 12.3 and iPhone 5S to Final public release build.

Still Apps do not transfer back to PC's library.

Quality control is pathetic.

I am syncing, both wired and wireless, to my iPhone running both the GM and the public release and iTunes 12.2 & 12.3 from OS X 10.11 GM The only problem I encountered was once I updated my iPhone to the public release I had to update iTunes for it to sync once again. Beyond that everything seems golden on my Mac.

I just updated my mac to iTunes 12.3.0.44. Backup works fine....music syncs fine. I can not transfer apps. I tried deleting an app that I knew i just updated, and then reinstalled it on iTunes by clicking install. about 30 seconds after installing it, I checked the App Store on my phone for an update, and it showed that I had to update. The apps were Facebook Messenger, and R.B.I Baseball 15.

Does this need to be an iTunes update fix or a new iOS 9 update?

btw, this happened on both my iPad 3, and iPhone 6+.

Is it possible that apps that will sync is device specific ones. For example, iphone only apps would transfer back and forth between itunes and iphone but universal apps won't?

I'm thinking that maybe because Apple is introducing a new feature where apps won't take long to update and not in bloated size due to it being more optimized to the user's device whereas in the past app updates would update all files including settings for different devices like ipad or ipad mini. Which means that basically most apps are not fully updated in our iDevices which is why they won't transfer to PC.

I don't know. I'm just guessing.

^^ If apps are not syncing due to app thinning and app being customized to device screen resolution, then Apple would have put up a guideline saying so. This also defeats the purpose of universal apps.

Same problem since 9.0 beta 3 or 4. But perhaps since windows 10... I will try to uninstall iTunes and reinstall. Public Beta 9.1 and iTunes 12.3 did not solve my problem.

Exactly. Judging from this article:
https://www.macrumors.com/2015/09/16/ios-9-under-the-hood-improvements/

Quote:
"App Thinning

Apps from third-party developers also require less installation space thanks to a feature called App Thinning. With App Thinning, apps can be optimized for specific devices, allowing them to take up less space on iOS devices.

An app for the iPhone doesn't need all of the iPad assets, so those won't be downloaded. That means faster installs, faster launch times, and more storage space left for other apps and content.

App Thinning also includes on-demand resources like image and sound files, which can be downloaded only when needed. The imagery for later levels in a game, for example, might not be downloaded until it's necessary. "

This seems to me to be the only possible reason for apps not syncing though. Hope there's a solution to this soon.
