Seems I'll be upgrading my iPad to Air 2 on discount, or Air 3 this fall.

Picture in picture and slide over is available in iPad Air and latest minis though. They might be enough for some people. Others might want the full split screen, then they'll need air 2.

Also doesn't the 70:30 slide over feature still keep both apps open side by side? Is the only difference with split screen the fact that it's 50:50?

I thought that too, but I guess slide-over is only when the other screen is darkened.
I see no point in that whatsoever other than the fact it might save you 2 seconds or less to look at emails or something. Are you sure it's darkened? Maybe it's just not active but still open and visible.

I'm getting the air 3. No need to just get a small upgrade for iPad. I'm sure the 3 will have even more features as well. Love the multitasking features though. And the picture in picture is badass as well

Predicated that split screen would require minimum 2GB DRAM so iPad Air 2 only for now and future models.
Me too, although I predicted it also needed the third core in the A8X chip, so if the A9 in the iPhone 6s is also tri-core, then we'll know for sure.

Safari twice I'm not sure. But Netflix should definitely work. Have to wait for people to post it I guess
