This is the one and only feature which would make me upgrade from my ipad 3, to an ipad Air (hopefully the 3 this fall).

Wow...talk about a complete shut out for iPhone 6 Plus users.
6s+, calling it now. (it will likely have the sufficient amount of RAM and that lack of RAM in a phone produced in 2014, running as current-gen for the better part of 2015 still, is exactly why I didn't get a 6+ - planned obsolescence with the balls to know EXACTLY they will up sell you on a feature one year later they could effortlessly give you earlier at little cost... It's not like next gen and the one after that they will run out of things to up sell you with, so no false excuses here, guys!)

This is really going to be 80% of my split screen usage. That and Hulu + HBO
Ok so as of now it doesn't work. As I'm sure you saw you have to hit the divider between apps to activate them both but that isn't an option as of now with netflix but it does come up for the native apps.

You cant double up on safari but Im going to see if it is possible to use two different browsers and achieve same effect.

Im hoping that the current restriction is only due to the app not being updated for the new iOS, otherwise its a bummer

Release notes seem to mention this. Should be fine come this fall for most every app.

Great yea I didn't read them but thanks for the heads up. The only reason I am afraid video streaming apps won't work is because they stressed the picture in picture thing as the way to watch video while do other things.

It seems like even though split screen multitasking only works on the iPad Air 2, Slide Over and Picture in Picture should work on all iPads. At least that's the impression I get from the iOS 9 preview page on Apple's website.

It's clear Apple wants to drag these features out for as long as possible to give some reason to upgrade annually. The Microsoft playbook, which in turn stalls technology.

If iPhone never came out, we'd still be doing the same old thing on Windows in 2015 since MS wouldn't disrupt there own money maker and just string along upgrades.

Predicated that split screen would require minimum 2GB DRAM so iPad Air 2 only for now and future models.

its iPad air, air 2 and iPad mini 2, mini 3. Not exclusive to the air 2.

With split screen are you able to drag content from one app to another? For instance I'd love to be able to force touch a document in iCloud Drive and drag it over to email.

So when you swipe left and get a list of apps on the right hand side is it just a list of your most recently used apps?

can you actually open anything useful in the other side though? Like can i have safari open twice or netflix on one side and safari on the other?
It does not appear that you can have two safari windows open side by side. Netflix and safari side by side both work.

you were able to play netflix and safari simultaneously? I tried to but it did not give me the selection to "activate " both windows

As of now it seems to just be the native apps, not a recently used list, but that obviously might change as more apps become optimized to work properly with it.

I do wish they had option to hold iPad vertical but have a horizontal sectioning off of the two windows as opposed to vertical

I agree. I do tend to use my iPad a lot in portrait. Would be awesome if they somehow find away for support multitasking in portrait view..
