I've also had this problem, un-pair the iPhone to your Mac and then re-pair, this worked for me a couple of months ago.
But I'm trying to use it as a hotspot for a laptop (W8), another iPhone (6) and a Samsung mobile, and none of them are working

iOS 9.0.2 on iPhone 6 plus, and still not working.
I have changed the name of the iPhone (nonsense and useless), reboot...
Are we going backwards?

Even if I thought that my problems are fixed with iOS 9.0.2 I am still not happy. The main problem is that I cannot use the Phone as a phone (from time to time and I need to restart the device like I am having a Windows phone :-D ) and now I am considering downgrading to iOS 8.4.2 (before this option is shut by Apple).

One of the positive sides from my iPhone restore directly to iOS9.0.1 (using iTunes) was that now I have more free space (1GB+). Of course I did back up before that.

Since upgrading to ios9 on my 5s it will no longer tether using the iPhone plugged in to my MacBook Pro to tether. It WILL work if I use it to tether via wifi. I am having a few other issues with iOS 9.
i'm having the same problem. personal hotspot via usb doesn't work, but connecting via wifi does. anyone have a fix for this?

Dear All,

I was wandering if I am the only having the following problems after upgrade to iOS9 on iPhone 4S:

- Personal hotspot not working anymore (I can see it in setting I can switch it on, but cannot connect any of my devices, and I mean: MacBook Pro 13", Lenovo X200T, LG G2 Mini, iPad Mini). I did not have any problems on iOS 8.4

- Sometimes (it happens 1-2 times per day) when I click on the phone icon it just stuck and I cannot do anything, cannot dial a number, nothing, I need to switch off/on the phone in order to be able to dial a number.

I already tried to:

- switch off/on the phone
- reboot the phone
- restore the phone

Unfortunately still having the same problems. The only plus was that I have more free space on my iPhone after the restore...

Thank you in advance for your reply, comment or feedback.

Updating to iOS 9.1... will I brick my phone, will I use it again... all my fingers are crossed.

Apple, I do not need 150 new emoji icons, I just want my phone to work in normal manner, just that and nothing more.

If you haven't, have you tried reinstalling iTunes on the Mac?

I am using the latest version of iTunes on PC (The MacBook Pro is constantly occupied by my girlfriend). At the moment it seems to be "OK".

Using iOS 9.1 for couple of hours, so far - no so Apple good, my phone still lags...

But have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling? USB Hotspot is related to iTunes

I have not tried to un-install and to install it again. I rarely use USB Hotspot, I was happy that the Wi-Fi/Bluetooth starts working in some magical way.

I have just tried the USB Hotspot on Ubuntu 15.04 and on Windows 7 Ultimate and it now works, which is very good news.

I was having the same issue after upgrade to IOS9.1 on OCT 24 2015. Then personal hot spot can work through Bluetooth, but not WIFI. Tried reboot, re-connect, clean up the connection on the client etc, nothing helped.
Finally, what I did
- Turn on wifi, Bluetooth
- Turn on personal hot spot, and do NOT go back, stays on that menu page.
- Reboot your phone. Then WIFI hot spot worked.
Seems the magic is staying on the hot spot setup page when reboot. Don't sure if it is a coincidence. Try it anyway.

Personal hotspot has always been bad on iPhone but it's gotten worse as it will hardly connect at all. Distance has to be a few feet etc.

It doesn't work well on my air 2 running 8.4 either. It's not just iOS 9

I am not sure if I am the only one with this problem, but when I activate the Hotspot I need to stay on the Hotspot screen until a device is connected (takes 15-20 sec) if I minimize the window or open another application the Hotspot connection is not possible.

Once a device is connected there is no problem to switch to another program or to lock the phone and also a second device is connecting with no problems.
