Right, I'm sure the new one will make the final cut. But that the true default wallpaper will be something else. Probably something darker. Maybe of a sky.
Yeah I'm sure it's gonna be a space wallpaper that will debut with the new iPhone 6s, just like what they did last year, they also showed a sea wallpaper for iOS 8 that didn't turn out to be the default. But I really can't understand why do they do this ? Why don't they do like iOS 7 and earlier when the final wallpaper is the one shown in WWDC?

Actually a similar thing happened with iOS 7 too. The wallpaper that was always shown was the blue/purple/pink dynamic one. It was the one used in the demo, and all over the website. The space one was only shown in Jony's video.

I think they feel like they can be less restrained. The last 3 beta wallpapers were brighter than the public release ones. Maybe they think the brighter wallpapers highlight the new OS. Then they choose a more subtle one for public release to not overshadow the newness of the phone. And I wonder if there's symbolism in the water for beta, and sky for public. I wish I could be a fly on the wall in the meetings they decide a new wallpaper.

Made a new, round avatar a week ago when the forum updated. Now I've changed it from the stars/aurora to this one. I like the pretty colors…yes…mmmmmm.

I think this will be final wallpaper, simply because Apple have paid for the image from a photographer, like they did with the final iOS 8 wallpaper.

Also, like the final iOS 8 wallpaper, they've made some adjustments to it. They removed what appears to be a head from the end of the wave on this one and on iOS 8's stock wallpaper they removed a small house from the bottom of the hill.

iOS 8's beta wallpaper last year was just rendered rippled water.

I don't see Apple paying to use someone's photo and editing it, again like they done with the final
iOS 8 wallpaper, to ditch it after the betas.

Hahah I thought the iOS 8 wallpaper depicted "under the surface" improvements. And the nebula wallpaper was present in the beta of iOS 7, unlike the milky way of iOS 8, which came with the iPhone 6. But I found that even the nebula wallpaper of iOS 7 wasn't the same in the final version:

In my opinion, Apple always gives the iPads the best wallpapers especially the mountains in the Air2/mini3. btw where those ever released in full resolution?

Actually it was a photograph. "Water Rays" by Chris Ross. And Apple made adjustments to it too.
