After you have xcode and the iOS 10 ipsw file downloaded, open xcode with iTunes closed. After it installs the necessary components, then connect the iPad and open iTunes.

Option+click where it says "Check for Updates" and it will ask you to select the ipsw file. Then it should download and update.

Yup! finally this worked for me. My iPad has been "update requested" for 3 days now.

Error 14 occurred when I tried to update by iTunes. I have Xcode installed in my Mac. :-(
[doublepost=1473555176][/doublepost]iTunes is trying to "update" my iPad Pro back to 9.3.5. Hope it works. There is too much trouble and I will wait for the official release.
[doublepost=1473555672][/doublepost]The iPad Pro has been successfully "updated" back to iOS 9.3.5 which means that the iOS update probably failed before it even began writing the software into the disk.

when you fire up iTunes and plug in your iPad, hold down OPTION then click on "software update" . iTunes will ask you to navigate to where your ipsw file is. Navigate to there and open the file, and follow the instructions. I'm assuming that you already have the iOS Beta Software Profile all ready loaded.

I did this already - still resulted in an error 14 message and xcode is installed and up-to-date on my rMBP. Beta Profile is installed on my iPad 12.9.

I have restored to 9.3.5 - reset it up and tried again in case it was just bad luck and exactly same thing re-occurs.

At this stage wasting 2 days trying to get it working I may as well wait to the 13th and 'hppe' the official firmware update is seen and it prompts me to install that instead.

Do you only have the beta profile installed on your iPad, or do you have a developer account? I think for this method you might need a developer account.

As I remember a beta profile shouldn't be needed if you update your devices to GM iOS versions through iTunes using the IPSW files. The GM should install on all compatible devices. I'm not upgrading this iPad Pro anymore until official release (I'm afraid the same will happen for official release?) as I don't want to go through the painful restoring process.

So no fix for those of us so courageous as to be using iOS devices only? Maybe one day iOS won't be so crippled that it doesn't require a computer to fix such minor issues.

Frankly the fact that the iPad Pro 12.9" version doesn't seem to be able to get the GM beta is irritating as hell! Mine has been hung on 'update requested' for days with no end in sight. And restoring isn't an option because like a dummy I had gotten the profile before I did the backup.

If the final release doesn't automatically install I guess I'll have to virginize the blasted thing. Not looking forward to that at all.

Assuming it is released tomorrow even if our OTA is messed up, we can still check and update via iTunes once 10 is available normally.

Could someone please tell me what OTA stand for. I get that it must have something to do with updating from the iPad itself, I just can't figure out what words go with the acronym

I guess the bricking issue earlier today may be related to the problems we experienced in installing the GM.
