but..but..but did steve tell us "it just works" so he lied to us. what he really meant was it just works..well almost as good as android.

You’re kidding, right?

Steve Jobs (or anyone else for that matter) never said “it just works everything”. Nothing does everything. Steve’s quote simply meant: the things it does, it does really well.

That doesn’t include that it should be compatible with every device in exsistence.

And iPads are not “almost as good as Androids”. For majority of tablet and productivity stuff - they are light years ahead. Mostly because Google never invested their attention to tablets, really.

Having owned five Android tablets (Motorola Xoom, Asus Transformer Infinity TF700T, Google Nexus 7 Gen 1 & 2, Samsung 8” Galaxy Tab S2) and countless Android phones (sometimes with custom ROMs), I'll take my Air 2, 10.5 Pro, and 2018 12.9 Pro any day of the week. Android does have some capabilities that iOS doesn't (though iPadOS will close the gap some) but I find the overall Apple quality - including apps - to be far beyond the Android offerings.

I can see in the OP's case where specific functionality availability may move him back to Android but I don't see myself ever doing that (I recently replaced my Samsung phone with an XS Max).

I really want to automatically assume you are being sarcastic, but not only I find this meme too old to swallow, I cannot think you are sarcastic but rather a bit snarky.
[doublepost=1563051970][/doublepost]As for the OP’s decision, I think it sums up how general public would think for a device or software after a few tries. If OP tries to research other alternatives, he might eventually find one that works in iOS and also suits his need. But, he choose not to, and I can certainly see the point.

Yeah if I had a lot invested in camera hardware and found that things were not compatible with the iPad to the point where I’d have to compromise in workflow and possibly quality I’d seriously consider another platform too. I’m not sure why people are suggesting buying new camera equipment; it’s as if they have a personal interest in having the OP be successful at video editing on the iPad at the expense of his own money. I too hope OP finds software that will work on iOS. I wish I knew what to recommend but I’ve never considered editing video on mine, I always do that in FCP or Premiere on my Mac/PC’s.

dang ipad pro dont work with 2 of my cameras. it just dont like mts video files . back to android for me

I am confused as to the reasons for your post.
Are you just making an announcement or are you asking for help?

If you are asking for help, it would be useful to give us the actual model (not just brand) of your camcorder and also change the thread title to something more descriptive so as to give visibility to the right people.

Cool ty do you think I can edit that cameras video with y iPad?

No. Looks like the same problem - it records in XAVC S and AVCHD.

Edit -

If I were in your shoes and were hard over on getting a camera with native iPad support for editing, I would determine the price range I was interested in and the features I wanted (e.g., I would want image stabilization and support for 4K video (30 & 60fps)). I would go to reputable web sites – Amazon, Best Buy, B&H Photo – and look at prices and availability. You need to check the specs to see if they record in a format supported in iOS –

And if you want the best video editing app in iOS, look at Lumafusion.

Looks like there is a way to get XACV-S on the iPad:

It also appears that LumaFusion can handle XACV-S.

Btw now I’m up to 3 cameras that don’t work luckily they was super cheap at pawnshop one was kinda expensive at 60 bucks but it is mirrorless and 4/3 thirds this one comes the most to working but I get file not supported nor something

I don't believe both of your cameras are only recording .mts files. Maybe take a harder look at your settings or post the exact models of your cameras, so we can maybe help you better.

jvc gz-ex250 and panasonic hdcsd9p

The Panasonic is over 10 years old. I was under the impression, these were newer models. Why did you buy such an old device? There are plenty recent camcorders for a good price, which are compatible with modern file formats.

im kinda cheap and i kinda thought the older they are the beter chance ipad would be able to use the codecs

I think they’re going to be more of these types of post in the coming months.

There are several people that will attempt to replace their laptops and become extremely frustrated with how iOS works as opposed to a traditional laptop.

Indeed iOS does have a steep learning curve for those that don’t have any experience with or how to use the platform.

It can become quickly frustrating to those that are not used to having limitations either via the desktop or workspace on screen.

While iPadOS is great, it just opened up a whole new can of users that will jump in thinking it’s going to be perfection

IOS is not suitable, in one way or another, for a majority of tablet users, the vast majority of whom assess their needs and requirements against the specifications of the product they are considering. If it were me I would be kicking myself and embarrassed about my failure to do a bit of homework and quietly making use of the generous returns policy. Perhaps then following up with a more positive post regretting the perceived deficit in IOS that prevented you from being able to make the purchase. You’d have provided the same useful information in a positive way without adding to the dispiriting negativity that permeates these forums. It’s disingenuous for another contributor/moderator to complain about ‘snarky’ replies to your post when you’re complaining about having to return a product you should never have purchased in the first place. As always, buyer beware.

iOS is far better than android 100%. Even running the beta iPadOS it is far better than android. One doesn’t have to think in order to use iOS to get stuff done, or learn how it works. Furthering ones knowledge is stupid, it’s doing something only for yourself which no one ever does... kinda like having to spend time alone.
