Disappointed to see that AirDrop between iOS and OS X is still as broken as it ever was.

I can’t believe such a simple feature works so poorly. It’s hit and miss every time.

funny i was just trying it - doesnt work (still) for me.
I emailed the picture over in the end.

I just wanted to crate a new theard and then I saw this one so I will ask in here:

I wanted to Use AirDrop today(never used it before) and my iPhone 5s and my MacBook Pro Retina (both devices have the latest Software) don´t find each other. Is this a common Problem or is there any workaround or solution to this problem?

It's a VERY common problem.

Works about 20% of the time as it should.

Keep fiddling and it MIGHT work!

I had this issue with El Capitan beta/GM, thus i sent feedback to Apple... Nothing changed so until now Airdrop for me never worked ( no 10% or 20% or 30% of the time, for me 0% of the time)...
I don't understand Apple anymore...

I'm not sure its even hit and miss anymore, since i upgrade to el capitan and iOS 9, i haven't been able to use Airdrop between os x and iOS 9 at all. It was very hit and miss in yosemite, but now nothing.

Could someone confirm if they have ever got it working with latest software(mac to iPhone), i'm wondering if it was disabled due to the security issue that was found

Works for me every time.. try changing from Off to Contacts only to Everyone.. wait at least 5 seconds on each one..

2012 rMBP to iPhone 6+ and 5s. Worked on Yosemite, worked on EC.. try turning on WiFi also.. Definitely don't have BT connected to anything else..

Is your iOS device unlocked?

AirDrop frequently doesn't work for me. El Capitan and iOS 9 - same with Yosemite and iOS 8, etc.

which mac? thanks
Late 2011 15" MBP w/ modded BT card.

I also ran the GM first (from a clean install) then updated to Public. Have not had any probs using Airdrop/Handoff on my MBP on El Cap and my 6+ on iOS 9.0.2.

I might also add that when I updated to the GM from Yosemite initially, I had probs with Airdrop. After the clean install, all was perfect.

Which bluetooth radio is it? my iMac late 2013 at work which is working mac to mac but not iOS to mac, is Broadcom chipset is 20702B0 and firmware v112 c9036

I have iphone 6S Plus and El Capitan with 2015 MacBook and a Mac Pro and a Retina iMac - 100% fail.

At least on Yosemite I only had a 70% failure rate.

AirDrop is a terrible implementation. I don't know anybody who ever says it works first time ALL the time.

it use to work on 10.10, around 50% for me. but now it cannot even discover between mac and iPhone/ipad.
iPhone/ipad works pretty nicely as long as both devices are on screen.

got a call back from apple, spent 30minutes doing what everyone says to do on this site, then he went to talk to supervisor, came back and said it is a problem and they're looking into it. I wonder why 1st tier support don't have that information at the top of the documents they read from. It does seem to be effecting newer macs though. Are they allowed to advertise a feature that doesn't work on the newest equipment ;)

Airdrop always works for me. I have a 2015 mbp and an iPhone 6. Cannot get Hand off or continuity to work. I get a warning saying the devices are unsupported lol
