One of the few who still uses @mac.com for the email address. After the upgrade I am noticing that the from address defaults to @icloud.com even though the settings still points to @mac.com address. Not sure if anyone here is noticing that.
Thank you, @Namara. I changed the default to @mac.com and when I send the email out, the receiving side still gets it with @icloud.com as the from the address. Are you noticing that behavior on your side? I tested this by sending the email to @gmail and the from address is not @mac.com.I've noticed that too. It's easy enough to change it at least but feels like we're being once again nudged to use the @icloud version.
I have been using that email address for a long time and I guess Apple allows some accounts to continue using it. You should go your iCloud settings (Your Apple ID -> iCloud -> Scroll all the down to Mail). When you select Mail you should see a setting for “Choose a default address to use when sending from your iCloud account”. You should be able to change it to @Mac address if it is available for you. In my case it is available, but doesn’t respect the setting when the email is sent.Guys how do I change mine to show sent from.mac?
Thanks mate. I have 3 options:.me.icloud and.mac.I have been using that email address for a long time and I guess Apple allows some accounts to continue using it. That’s weird, I have not seen that before. I wonder if Apple will not let you go back. I think they have been signaling people to stop using @mac.com emails. In my case it allows me to select, but it doesn’t use it; it is perhaps a bug with iOS 14.Thanks mate. I have 3 options:.me.icloud and.mac.
The.mac is on BUT greyed out. The other 2 are also on BUT NOT greyed out.
I'm thinking I should turn off the.me and.icloud. That way hopefully people only see emails from.mac. What do you think?
Hello, yes, my Apple ID is still @mac.com address.I let my .Mac go. but I could have sworn it there were messages that said it would be deprecated. From mac they went to .me and now .iCloud. It‘s not my default. I only use it for communication between Apple and I.
I checked my settings and my Apple ID is .me, when I went to change it said I couldn’t. Is your Apple ID your .mac address?
Yes, that is not good. Hopefully this is a bug and will get resolved soon in the next dot release.Mine is also.mac
I'm a little concerned as when I send job applications I have stated my.mac e.ail address but when they see a.me email address when I sent my CV, that could raise questions with the employer.
I might just call apple and ask them to sort it out!!!!
Why would apple not want people to use the .mac email address? That’s weird, I have not seen that before. I wonder if Apple will not let you go back. Oh thanks for this tip! It's a good reminder to always scroll all the way down to see what's there .👍I have been using that email address for a long time and I guess Apple allows some accounts to continue using it. Interesting, I tried the same now, I am still having the issue. Receiving email system says it came from iCloud.comI just tested it too by changing it on my iPad to my @mac.com, sent an email to my Outlook address, and it shows as received from my @icloud.com. Oh well ...
Update: After sending a second email, it worked with the @mac.com address. OK then, we're cooking with gas now.
I was reading about it somewhere, not able to find the link now. However, Apple’s support article seems to indicate that users will not get @mac.com anymore. https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201771Why would apple not want people to use the .mac email address?

Yes, that's true. They stopped giving those out a few years ago. Here's an Apple Insider article that gives some of the history:I was reading about it somewhere, not able to find the link now. I was on the phone to a contract centre the other day and when I have my email address the girl I was speaking with said " wow! That's old school"!
Now, before any smart arses say "cool sorry Bro"!, it's a true event! I'm too old and grey to make stuff up
Hey Guys,
So I think I found a solution that seems to work. I upgraded tokay to iOS 14.0.1, thinking that they would have fixed the issue, but the test email I sent continued to come from @icloud.com. Then when I went to the Mail settings, I noticed that all the other aliases had the Allow Sending From as ON. The description of the option reads the following:
"Choose which addresses you would like to use when sending from your iCloud account. You will still receive mail at all of the addresses above."
That led me to go and toggle all aliases [non @mac.com] to OFF. That did the trick! The emails are sent from @mac.com and based on the description above, and you will still get emails for the other aliases. I hope this helps.
Wow! A sure way to get into a bit of trouble!Sounds like it's related to this:
Mail - Can't reliably choose "send from" address
I have a gmail account set up with several aliases that I send from for different purposes (e.g., online vs. personal) with a personal domain. In ios 13 it worked fine for all purposes. I send from, say lebigmac@domain.com or lbmspam@domain.com and the recipient would see the address I chose...forums.macrumors.com
A rather serious bug (for those who have multiple email addresses/aliases).
Yup, you are right! It seems like a related bug. Well I hope Apple really addresses this. The steps I mentioned above seems to be working for now, but I have to manually go and enable and disable the alias that I would like to send the email with.Sounds like it's related to this:
