While I agree that they should add this feature, I find it a bit extreme that you're going to all that trouble for a screenshot or two.

So there's a screenshot in there. So what?

Yes, I'd erase it if I could but I can't understand why you're going to all that trouble for something that will cycle out of the stream in a week or two anyway.
AppleTV offers a way to use your photostream as a screen saver which is a fantastic idea IF you have an organized photostream. So whether its 30 pictures of the ceiling, a prank genital photo from the guy in the cubicle next to you or a single screenshot then theyre all annoying and worth the "trouble" of finding a removal solution.

Seriously, is reading comprehension that difficult here?
The problem isn't comprehension because almost everyone understands it. The problem is that some people have an uncontrollable need of defending Apple and refuse to accept that something Apple did might not be "perfect".

Context, man. I meant "clean your Photo Stream" as 'delete one or two pictures,' which is precisely what this thread is about (hence the thread title). Besides, I don't WANT an empty Photo Stream! I want to be able to either remove certain photos OR take one or two non-Photo Stream pictures without having to re-download ALL of them.

Seriously, is reading comprehension that difficult here?

You've been told you can't do what you want.
You've been given alternatives to remove the pic that you don't want others to see.

You're only making your own blood pressure rise by fuming about the travesty that Apple has bestowed upon you.

I don't think anyone is defending anything here, they are simply saying that this particular option is currently not available and have offered workarounds for the OP to delete the pic that has appeared on his photo stream.

Funny that you assume I've got "cock pics" on my phone. That may be your thing, but not all of us are into that.

Anyway, I've yet to hear anyone offer a workaround besides deleting the entire Photo Stream (which I already knew how to do) ... But hopefully Apple will address the issue soon.

I don't think anyone was making assumptions about what pictures you have in your photo stream, just listing examples of types of pictures one might want to delete from the stream.

Actually, his post was edited to remove the multiple instances of that specific reference. ;)

Just wondering if it's possible in 5.1 to either delete individual Photo Stream photos or disable Photo Stream without having to delete all of them.

I disable and then re-enable Photo Stream almost daily, requiring me to re-download all 600 pictures just so that one or two pictures or screenshots don't end up in my Photo Stream. Kinda ridiculous, really ...

Mavis, I think what has not been said here yet may help. Consider Photostream as a temporary holding tank for your photos until they are downloaded to each device, iPhone, iPad, PC, MAC whatever. Once they have been synced to each device, when you reset Photostream from iCloud it ONLY removes the stream. None of the pictures already downloaded to your devices go anywhere. iPhone pics will still be in camera roll, the folders on your PC that were setup to sync with iCloud will also remain intact. Actually Photostream will automatically remove pictures after 30 days OR when there are 1000 then it starts dumping the oldest whichever comes first. So while this does not give you the individual photo control, it DOES keep you from downloading 600+ photos over and over. Once the photos are on your device there is really no reason to have them in both the Stream folder and camera roll (in iPhone i am referring to). Same thing to your other PC's or phones etc. Hope that helps.

BTW if you are thinking of Photostream as a backup for your photos, dont, it will automatically delete after 30 days. Use the backup to iCloud feature and make sure camera roll is selected. Then you have daily backups. (Or use iTunes backup)

Looks like Apple has finally sorted this out. Can't wait for iOS5.1!

I hear ya, that's great news. I didn't warn the wife about the limitations of Photo Stream, so she got upset at not being able to delete certain pictures.
