iOS5 Bluetooth Pairing Workaround

When I turn the iPhone off/on, all of the paired devices are missing from the Settings/General/Bluetooth menu.

Here's what works for me: Turn off your Bluetooth devices (handsfree earpiece or whatever), then on the iPhone, simply turn Bluetooth off, then back on. All of the devices and pairing will will recover automatically.

Forgets Pairing - But...

Yep, same problem here.

I, too, have this issue. However, if I turn off bluetooth on my phone and turn it back on, the devices are then listed & I can (usually) connect. I am pretty irritated that this was not fixed in the patch that came out today, though. (5.01)

Bluetooth connectivity... Update

I have an iPhone 3Gs and had upgraded to iOS5 and have also lost BT connectivity. I have a Nissan Xterra '09 with factory bluetooth hands free which had been paired to my original iPhone, and my 3Gs for years with no problems. After reading some posts I decided to try to delete my paired phones on my truck and to re-pair the phone from scratch. It seems to have worked so far, I have tried it twice since the re-pairing and it picked up the phone right away. Don't know how long this will last, but I will update if it starts acting up again. Hope this helps some of you out there!!:apple:

Update: The pairing has worked flawlessly since the original post and BT functionality is perfect. However when I upgraded to iOS 5.0.1, all my bluetooth connected devices were lost. I manually re-paired my phone with my truck and all is well again. I read some more posts and wish I would have tried turning off BT in settings then turning it back on to see if I could have saved myself some steps. Simple workaround, but highly unnecessary... I just hope people aren't blaming their BT devices and spending way too much time troubleshooting. Come on Apple, this is very unlike you...

Bluetooth Connectivity

I was frustrated when iPhone 3GS would not pair with my Nissan Altima.

After trial and error, I found that the issue is actually the iPhone (iOS 5.0.1).

After turning phone off an on (iOS 5.0.1), I noticed that the Bluetooth was on but no paired devices were showing.

When I turned Bluetooth off and on, the paired devices appeared and synched with my vehicle.

Not sure what happened with iOS 5 or 5.0.1, but this is just one more step I will have to take until the bug is fixed....

bluetooth not connecting ios5 ipad and iphone

My iphone 3g will not connect to anything via bluetooth. Biggest issue for me is my Subaru Outback Blue connect. It's listed in the iPhone bluetooth settings but will not connect. Same issue in my wife's Nissan Sentra.

I have GNS 5780 bluetooth GPS to run Foreflight and Navigon on my iPad 1 wifi. It used to connect without problems to both my iPad and iPhone, but now neither will connect.

The only Bluetooth device that seems to work is my SPOT Connect seems to connect to my iPhone, but I haven't actually tried it in the field since the latest IOS update.

Are others finding similar bluetoogh connection problems?

bluetooth will no longer connect since ios 5 update

I've had the same problem as others trying to reconnect my iphone 4 with my Motorola H15 bluetooth which was working perfectly well until the ios 5 update. Now I can't connect at all.

I called Apple support today and spent 30 minutes with them going through various resets etc but nothing worked. They finally ran out of ideas then suggested it might be the firmware for the BT that needs updating but this isn't possible as the BT only came with a charger. Motorola's own website says the H15 is compatible with the iphone 4. I believe it's Apple who has created the problem and it has something to do with the latest update but only they can fix it - hopefully they will in the next ios update if enough people bring it to their attention.

Please let me know if anyone comes up with a workable solution. Thanks.

Many automobiles experienced problems with Bluetouth connectivity and they required taking the car into the dealer for an update on the autos.

My Hyundai Elantra has had problems since upgrading to iOS 5 on my 4 and now my 4S. I've contacted Apple Bug Department many times but I have heard nothing back since the first week of October. Real pain because I don't have handsfree in my car right now..

Sporadic connectivity

I have an IPhone 3GS with IOS 5.01. Although it has detected and connected to FordAudio (2010 Mondeo Titanium) and I have always succeeded in making a call I have had the following issues:
* call would not end on ford unit but appears ended on iPhone
* BT audio stops mid song maybe returns again
* volume on FordAudio needs to be set to volume level 13 for iPhone but only to volume level 5 (same as radio) for both my daughters iPod touches 4th gen BT
* shows connection on FordAudio screen shows BT icon and Play icon on iPhone yet no sound comes out
* struggles to display phone book at times

Any advice appreciated

Bluetooth

I have a 4S and it woudln't pair with the Bluetooth devce I was using with my four year old Sanyo phone. I was told by the Genius Bar that the 4S does not support yet earlier Bluetooth protocols. He expected a fix, but no timetable. Seems silly to me from a planning perspective, but Apple does things like that.

I have a 4s. It connects correctly with my Ford Sync system in a 2010 F150. I see no difference from my former 3Gs running iOS 4.3. I have not tried linking to my iPad2 as a hotspot. I think I would use WiFi in that case not BT.

Obviously I did have to connect the new phone with the F150 system and delete the old phone. You must select the new ios5 phone as the primary phone if you want it to auto connect.

I actually noticed a couple minor enhancements with my 2010 F150 with Sync, but as far as with my headset, there are tons of issues.
