For me it doesn't make sense for those wallpapers to be 6S exclusive. IMO they're just holding those for the GM. We had motion wallpapers since iOS 7 on the iPhone 4S.

Then why would the 6s only get new motion wallpapers if the screens are the same?

Why did the 4s get Siri and the 4 didn't when it was proven that the 4 could run Siri. I had Siri on my 4 back in the day and it worked fine.

The answer is simple, so that there's something instantly perceivable to differentiate between the 6 and 6s. With both phones looking identical, Apple need something that people instantly see as different.

I understand your point. But do you really think a wallpaper that can be used with no problem on a 4S is going to be the main feature to differentiate the iPhone 6S from the bunch??? Siri at least had a reason: no voice processing chip or something. Even if it's not true, it is a valid reason.

#sorry! thought you were replying to me :)

The 4 didn't have the noise canceling mics the 4s did so Siri would likely have misheard things more frequently. The 4s and up already support existing dynamic wallpapers so I don't know what the reason to not include them would be if displays are the same on the 6 and 6s.

It would only make sense for it to be exclusive for a possible OLED display iPhone if current LCDs on iPhones suffered from awful black levels and light bleeding. iOS 8 added those flowers on black backgrounds without needing OLEDs as well.

Wasn't the whole point about OLED that Force Touch became possible? Force Touch needs a flexible display which LCDs aren't.. therefore the Apple Watch is using an OLED display and that's also why people keep telling the new iPhones will have an OLED display. Or Apple just found a way to make Force Touch possible with LCD panels.

Again. I used Siri on my iPhone 4. It worked flawlessly. Or, as flawlessly as possible given how poor Siri was at the start.

Again, the iPhone 4 did not have the noise cancelling technology in order for Siri to work its best. The beauty of Siri is that you can whisper to it and she will still hear you, rather than having to shout at your phone or iPad. I put Siri on my old iPad 2 a few years ago and I can tell you it works nowhere near as well as the 4s or later.

So. The noise cancelling mic claim is sheer hearsay. The fact remains that it was technically possible on the iPhone 4 and was withheld so it could be a major feature of the 4s. And as for whispering to Siri ... behave yourself. I would try it here, but I don't want to look like a total idiot in front of my colleagues at lunch.

I looked it up and here's what I found:
http://www.forbes.com/sites/timwors...i-isnt-being-released-as-an-iphone-4-upgrade/

"To reduce system cost and eliminate the extra package required for the Audience chip, Apple cut a deal to integrate the noise-reduction technology directly into its A5 processor, which appears in the iPhone 4S. This technology is critical for the new phone because not only does it improve call quality, it blocks out background noise when users provide voice commands to Siri, the intelligent assistant built into the iPhone 4S. Without this noise reduction, Siri would be unusable even with a modest amount of background noise."

"I take it to mean that you could in fact put Siri on an iPhone 4 (which would explain many of those stories about hacks doing just that) but it wouldn’t work very well. And as we know, Apple just hates anything that doesn’t work well. Thus no release as an upgrade for Siri on the iPhone 4."
---------

They could use this same kind of logic on motion wallpapers with OLED screens.

Without the noise cancelling the experience wasn't up to the level that Apple wanted that feature to be.

OLED does not improve animations. This is in NO way like siri and the noise cancellation which was required for the voice dictation to work without being in a padded room somewhere.

Jony Ive said last year that iPhone displays look old, and that the OLED display on the Apple Watch looks provides a seamless experience. Like noise cancelling they could say the screen isn't good enough on the 6, just like noise cancelling wasn't on the 4.
