I want to switch to the bigger size, so I will likely upgrade my 13P to a 15PM in September.
My iPhone is my main device (can use my work 15“ Windows laptop if I need a bigger screen), so happy to spend a bit of money.

It depends… it’s very hard not to take Advantage of the Carrier subsidy every 2 years. Every since the iPhone 11… smartphone innovation has become stagnant and it’s financially foolish to upgrade every unless you some how sell last years phone at a good margin to be worth it

I would actually prefer to reduce my wireless bill entirely but when Verizon is offering $700-$800 off new iPhones every Christmas holiday when you trade in the last 3-4 generations in good condition…. It’s hard not to take the free money vs paying msrp outright

This recession we’re in sucks but if Verizon is offering $700-$800 off new iPhones this Christmas… I will more than likely upgrade our phones to the new 15 Pro

I had the 13 PM up till last month. Relative of mine was talking about how they wanted a 1TB iPhone PM badly and I didn't upgrade to the 14 because the buyback offers were horrible for us 1TB owners.

So, I figured I'd sell it to them and try out a 14 Pro with a lot less storage.

Well, I lasted just under half a month before I decided to go back to a 14 PM with more storage. I'm back where I started from but with a 14PM.

The 13PM had 103.4% battery health when I sold it. My 14 PM has 104%+ battery health. I think I'm going to sit out the 15 and see what the 16 has to offer.

So while I realize this was directed to the 13PM crowd.... figured I'd offer my story. I am really happy with the battery life and screen size of this device and was with the 13PM. Unless the 15 is absolutely amazing - and we're seeing a stagnation in new features imo - I'll probably keep this for a few years at least.

I thought I was getting too old/smart for grass is greener on other side ... but apparently not yet.

Honestly don't know at this point. The esim in the 14 is what told me to wait and not upgrade from my 13P. The 15 will have to be pretty amazing for me to upgrade, at least that is my current thinking as of today.

Currently I have no plans to upgrade my iPhone 13 ProMax. The 14PM was a disappointment especially with enforced eSIM.

If the 15PM comes in lighter with WiFi 6/6e support, ergonomic update, USB-C without gimmicks (TB4?) I might give it a look see. That is just on the hardware side. IOS is a whole ‘nother mess!

I have a 13 Pro Max and im on a carrier that gives me $1000 off iPhones every 2 years (with trade in), so it makes sense to upgrade every two years.

Upgrades im looking forward to:

Improved Ultra-Wide camera. I upgraded from the XS max to the 13 Pro Max and the ultra wide surprised me how much I loved it. However in low light, there is a noticeable difference switching from the main camera to the ultrawide (especially noticeable in video). So I'd love an improvement in that department.

Improved Long Zoom camera. The newest Sony Xperia phone has a variable periscope camera that can physically zoom from 3x to 5x. I'd love for the iPhone to adopt that technology with a 3x to 6x variable periscope zoom.

Curved Edges. I really loved the size and feel of my XS Max so moving to a design more similar to that would be a positive. The rumors looks like the 15PM is going to be a hybrid between the 13PM sides and the XS Max sides so I like the change. I dont use any cases.

And finally improvements to the overall phone such as new processor, new bluetooth, new modem, more efficiency, etc etc etc.

Dont really care about USB-C but it would be nice to have faster speeds when backing up to my laptop (iCloud and local backup)

Going to keep my 13PM for a while, especially since the forced e-sim ONLY route doesn't sit well with me at all! Switching my primary sim between multiple devices frequently with the simplicity of a physical sim, I refuse to adopt an e-sim only option ATM.

Besides hardware ( which, honestly, I find more than adequate on my 13PM ) I hope Apple would open up iOS, at least to allow for true multi-tasking especially with their max sized devices.

If anything, I would 'upgrade' to a smaller pro device as I appear to gravitating more to the dark side, especially since using the Galaxy S23 Ultra ( Samsung have truly knocked this iteration out of the park, imo! ) If Samsung / Google can release a watch as good as the AW ( especially the Ultra ) .. I might find it really hard to continue with iOS ( And I've owned pretty much all iPhones since it's inception in 2007 )

I hope the 15 Pro shaves 50g and 2mm of thickness while keeping the same screen size and battery life.

I planned to upgrade from 13 Pro max to 14 pro max (when phones were sold out in stores) and now when they are back I can't justify it. I really like (want) that deep purple color (also covers are my blood type) but it is too much money just for color. I know, better camera, always on display and dynamic island... but these are not dealbreaker features for me. I rather wait more (for 15 or 16 lineup) even at the price of not having purple phone.

16 pro max. Phone tech has reached a stagnation point. No much difference between phones 4 years apart unless you always want the latest.

There is no hardware improvement that would make any difference for me, except for really unrealistic ones. To get me to buy a newest-gen Pro Apple would have to literally double the battery life. There are a few situations where I have to make sure to have a full charge, such as recording HDR video.

Lightning is the only actual issue I have with iPhones, it's very annoying that 100% of my stuff now uses USB-C except of course for the iPhone. If you've ever had an unexpected hospital stay you might find the hospital has exactly two old chargers with frail cables, and if you're lucky one of them isn't micro usb and is a usb-c charger. That's how it was for me and since I daily drive a Pixel luckily there was a single Huawei charger that ended up working.

I wouldn't directly replace the iPhone just for switching to USB-C though.
