Nice advice, but I will only sell it, if that amount of money will be sufficient to buy 7th gen without any additional costs, I am from Armenia and i bought that ipad for 250$ , but new one here costs ~400$ so even used one I can easily sell for ~ 330$.

If you can sell the ipad for what the first one cost you, or make a profit(!!) on it, then that changes things.

The iPad Air serves well those who want a full-sized iPad — but not an iPad Pro — at the long-standing iPad base price of $499. It’s an excellent half-step between the two extremes for users who don’t want to shell out a few extra hundred bucks for essentially a nicer design and ProMotion display.

Speaking as an owner of an 11” iPad Pro, if the current iPad Air that “ruined” the lineup were available when I made my purchase, it would have been a very strong contender to replace my 9.7” iPad Pro.

Yes, yes, a thousand times yes! I am this user you speak of. I was ready to move on from my iPad 6, which I really did love but needed a bigger screen and better performance for my work in the studio and while mobile. The iPads Pro are beauties, but much too expensive. I could not justify spending that much on an iPad when I’m also looking to make a Mac purchase next month.

Enter the iPad Air 3.

This iPad is perfect for my use case, which was made even better but trading in my iPad 6, old 6S Plus, and getting the education price with free Beats I just sold today. The traffic from iPad Pro to iPad Air 3 was enough for me to get it and love using it.

Agree. For those looking for a new base model iPad there are improvements to be had.

What the model line up boils down to for me is that the 10.2 has made the 2019 Air an odd fish, and a refurbished 10.5 more attractive.

32gb iPad 10.2 - $329
128gb iPad 10.2 - $429

64gb iPad Pro 10.5 REFURBISHED - $469

64gb iPad Air 2019 - $499
256gb iPad Air 2019 - $649

64gb iPad Pro 11' - $799

The Air certainly sits in the middle price wise but I'm not sure the cost difference is justified until refurbished 10.5 models are no longer available. And yes, I am aware there are spec differences.

I totally understand that iPad Pro 10.5 being more attractive with its feature set, and the jury is still out on if the iPad Air 3 will have this problem...but that white bright spot issue for the iPad Pro 10.5 took it out of the running for me. I would’ve loved the high refresh rate screen, but I’m ok with regular refresh on a defective-free screen of the the iPad Air 3, consisting the money shelled out for either device.

Personally I decided to go with the 10.5 pro and I do have the while spot. IpadOS goes a long way towards minimizing the issue, since with dark mode the while spot disappears. And the more apps adopt dark mode, the less it's an issue for me. But I understand that not everyones want to use dark mode all the time or like it. It's a personal choice. For me promotion is not a big deal (I almost don't care about it), but I am happy to trade a white spot (which again, it's not there most of the time for me) for the amazing speakers of the pro.

That was a consideration as well, as I’m sure that quad speaker setup is marvelous. It always sounded great in-store whenever I would play with it. I had to consider how much video or music I watch without headphones, and if the continuation of just two speakers would make my work any worse (I’m a private music teacher and my students use it with the Pencil often in their lessons).

Selling my worn iPad 5th gen this week (buyer knows it looks like it should have been in a case) and went for a replacement.

It became the iPad Pro 10.5 64GB as the 10.2 iPad with 128GB storage cost the same. 64GB is OK for me but 32 is cramped. Loooove the thinness and quad speakers so far (Promotion is meh). Oh my god the speakers. Getting 4GB RAM and the X chip will surely pay off well in the future.

I only see the base iPad making sense if 32GB is an ok amount for the buyer, and that’s a huge demographic. The 128GB is just meh. Though maybe cellular pricing muddles the water a bit.
