So, I was thinking it may be a digitizer issue or possibly some dead pixels. I have no clue about these things and in all the years of having iPads, iPhones, etc., never had this issue. With that being said, my year warranty is up June 12th. Event better, closest Apple Store to me is about 45 minutes away, so.... I dont want to waste my time if the community knows what this might be and if bringing it in would help me get a new replacement. Note, never any misuse, drops, etc. Always had a glass screen protector and cover on it as well. I uploaded one image pointing to the white circle and one with nothing for better viewing.

Let me add, I took the glass screen protector off, cleaned the screen, and also tried looking with and without true tone on as well as night shift.

Opinions? Thoughts?

Thanks for the heads up everyone!

I have seen similar effects in this forum. They were due to some type of impact damage.

Definitely not in this case. My children are handled more extremely than my machines.

After using the handy search feature (who would have though, eh?), it’s a defect. It even has a name. Off to Apple we go!

Did you manage to get this checked out? I have the issue on my 10.5 Pro and have an appointment Wednesday. I saw that other thread and it seemed like it was a painless experience but my previous experience has been mixed...

Not a dead pixel. Spot can be seen on white or light background. Pro screen is pretty sensitive. Even a slight pressure over the screen over some time will caused the white spots to appear. Apple changed a refurbished set for me

Design flaw, most iPad Pro screens will develop this over time. Apple as usual are going to pretend that they never heard of the issue and only exchange the iPads which are still under warranty.

Is there any proof that it "develops over time"?

I might as well say that people "discover the issue with time". Meaning it has been there since day one. Speaking for myself, I've had the issue on a brand new 10.5.

Absolutely not "impact damage" for mine.

Maybe it does exist right out of the box for some, but on mine I'm pretty sure it was a gradual thing over the course of 4-6 months. And the replacement I received absolutely did not have this issue, but does now.

Join the club. Mine has had one for months, bought at launch. Still under Apple Care, intend to get it replaced when I get the new 11”, and then sell it.

Should have done it ages ago, but it’s a 512gb iPad full of media, and I couldn’t be bothered with the faff of restoring everything again, takes aaaaages.

i have the white spot as well. out of 1 year warranty. sigh

Disgusting... well it looks like all iPad Pro 10.5 are on same fate.
I still have apc enforced, any change to ask store manager to return the defective iPad and ask for a 11” + money difference on my own??

Interesting, neither my 3 year old 12.9” or 1 year old 10.5” have this issue. (Well, I say my 10.5, I actually gave that to the wife, but that’s neither here nor there really :D)

For my 10.5, I think it was there from the start but very subtle. After year I noticed it more to the point it was distracting. I was out of warranty and bought from Currys but managed to pursue this via Consumer Rights Act 2015 and Currys have since refunded me the cost of a replacement.
My 12.9 has always been flawless.

My 10.5 had the same issue, went to Genius bar and they took it in. Got a new iPad about a week later.
This seems to be a known issue for the 10.5 pro

Was your iPad covered under warranty? I got mine to the Apple Store and they have not seen this issue before and refused to exchange the iPad.

My 12.9 inch 2015 that I had replaced for stuck pixels developed two, going to try my luck in getting another replacement I think.

I got the same spot, had the thing replaced a few months ago, it’s developing again. Mine is out of warranty, sigh.

Just saw a white spot on my 10.5, too.
At first I thought it was just something on the screen, but after cleaning it’s still there.
Out of warranty for 4 months :(

In Germany you are covered for 2 years.
This is called „Gewährleistung“, not a guarantee :(
This means the customer has to prove, that the issue already exist when the item was bought - usually a very challenging task...
