Eye strain on any OLED device has always been highly individual. I’ve had OLED screens for as long as they’ve been on phones and it’s never once bothered me. This is the first time I’ve had an issue. There have been people complaining about it since OLED began.
Same here. I've owned the iPhone X, Xs Max, 14 Pro Max, and 15 Pro Max. I think my OLED phones have actually caused me much less eye strain than the IPS displays that preceded it. Which is why I'm so surprised and disappointed the iPad OLED screen caused me so much trouble.

Same. I didn't know that I was PWM-sensitive until now, because I have been using OLED iPhones for years without any issues. But just a few days ago I bought an iPad Pro M4 11'' and the symptoms started right away, including eye discomfort, dizziness and even headaches. Also, a strange feeling of sleepiness and disconnection, making it really difficult to stay focused on the task at hand while using the iPad.

I did a lot of research and tried everything: switching true tone on/off, disabling ProMotion, trying light/dark modes, increasing brightness to 100% while reducing the white point, and so on. Unfortunately, nothing seemed to work, so I had to send it back. Such a shame, because it's a fantastic device and the screen is simply gorgeous, but it was completely unusable for me.

Now I'm trying to decide between the Air M2 11'' and the 13'' to replace my ancient iPad Air 2 🥲

Yeah. When comparing it to my older M2, the differences were subtle but they were there. The colors appeared so much sharper. It's a very nice device and I'm a bit jealous of the majority that has no issues with it.

I managed to keep my M2 so I am continuing to use it and it's been great. I was planning on giving it to a family member when the M4 came in but it turned out that they got the M4 and didn't want my old iPad and I was able to keep it. I also picked up a 13" M3 MBA and it is easy on my eyes. I'm still not sure if I'm keeping it. I got it when I didn't know I was going to be able to keep the M2 and it feels a bit redundant. It's very nice though. Good size and form factor. I've always had my M2 iPad on a magic keyboard so other than the OS differences, the experience is pretty much the same. And the M3 battery life is pretty impressive.

Same experience for me with the Oled iPads. Was fine with a 2020 a12z 12.9 iPad Pro but had eye fatigue and slight nausea with the oled m4 iPad. Got a 13” m2 Air and was instantly comfortable with the screen. Interestingly I found the 13” air screen more comfortable than the 11” air.

I got the 11" M4 and had same kind of issues. I returned it yesterday and got the M2 Air with Pencil Pro. Haven't had a lot of time to play with it yet. Hopefully this afternoon....

When I returned mine to Best Buy, they weren't surprised. I suspect that they've seen more than a few returns because of eye strain issues.
