version 1 is great, and apple always adds features slowly... gps, video etc in iphone.

So what do you want next time?

I want:

proper GPS

2 headphone jacks (for sharing - ie kids watching film in back of car etc)

camera (with video)

Multi-user log in

SD card slot

What is with everyone's fascination with cameras on everything.

Camera seems in apprpropriate on a 10" tablet device. but I don't get the fascination for over priced camera hardware in every mobile device to begin with...

My understanding is the 3GS versions will have GPS but I am not sure.

My wishlist is to be able to tether with my iphone, and sync over wifi.

stylus and hand written recognition. imo this would have made the tablet a much easier sell. students and business people need something they can jot down ideas on. not type it out on an on screen keyboard or wait to dock it. hopefully TOC comes out with that courier concept. that is what the ipad should have been

multi-tasking. it is bad enough my iphone can't play pandora when i check email, but on a device supposed to replace a laptop the majority of the time it is absurd. i hope this doesn't mean iphone 4.0 won't multitask.
video camera with ichat!
flash! (i don't like flash but it is too big to ignore in a product i would carry to substitute for my laptop)

I agree that this thing needs a stylus. I also would like to see everything that the OP listed with the exception of two headphone jacks. Splitters are readily available and cheap. Oh, and a front-facing camera is a must but it will be some time before we see that. Everybody would just use Skype and phone carriers would turn into ISPs!

I've been going though everything I do on my mac and seeing if I can do it on the iPad.

iTunes - check
email - check
web - check
store/organise photo's - check (will it be as good as iphoto?)
upload photo's to web - check (certainly via third party app)
spreadsheets - check
database - check assuming the Bento app works (although this could be vastly improved)
contacts/calendar - check
Printing Newsletters and notices.... ah... no one has mentioned printing... if i'm using iWork i want to print my pages documents... Or my photo's. Or directions from Google Maps. Or pages/forms I've downloaded from the web. I know its about backwards, but a printer would really help.

the only other things I use my mac for are a bit of video editting, webdesign and 3d modeling, but that is less than 5% of my mac use.... so once again apple has it spot on.

I would also like a stylus, but Steve Jobs hates the stylus pen with a passion.

I would assume it would support printing like the iPhone does: over wifi

Expandable memory.

I know, I know, this is sooo not gonna happen, but it's a wishlist, right!

Google Maps works as well as anything. Apple would have to invest in creating their own GPS service, they won't do that. They could switch to a Tom Tom app, but that would be another app, not a 'proper GPS'

2 headphone jacks? C'mon, you can buy a 8 way adapter from Radioshack, and you can use that adapter with other devices.

Camera would be cool, video calling would almost make the iPad a cell phone replacement.

Why an SD card slot? This isn't a computer.

Apple just bought a mapping company, likely to eventually put all their maps in house. In the meanwhile the mapping may switch to Bing. Google was what was shown today though.

A front-facing camera - not for video-conferencing (although can be used for that), but for PHOTOBOOTH... hahaha, imagine how many people they could win over with PhotoBooth on the iPad? Think: Hours of enjoyment for bored narcissistic people!

For me the wishlist is:

Multitasking
Flash support
Text messaging and phone-via-bluetooth for the 3G model (maybe, not that important)
The missing apps reinstated (calculator, weather etc)
Proper GPS, if the A-GPS in the 3G version isn't one.
A more organised home screen system, probably something a bit like Windows Mobile's "Today screen" and a better way of organising apps than the screenfuls of icons. At the very least more columns (even my jailbroken iPhone has 5 columns)

Most of those could be done through a software update. Whether they will (see the lack of MMS on the original iPhone despite jailbreak-proven capability) depends on their strategy for marketing new features on the 2.0 device.

Proper GPS - Likely 3rd party solutions soon
2 headphone jacks? Get a splitter
Camera - Get a cheap video recorder
SD card - there's an adapter coming.

I would love a stylus - oh wait - they make a third party one for the iphone already, probably could make this thing a wacom competitor if you really wanted it bad enough. 3rd party won't fail us I'm sure.

Camera and free ichat? YEah, ATT would love you to stop using your iphone and paying their bigger money. Apple has to play ball, so we don't get features, its that simple.

This is the first time I have to physically work with something apple made before I'm convinced I need one with an iMac and MBP and iphones in the house already.

Apple clearly states it has GPS on the 3G.
