It was new to me so it got a bit more usage than normal. I expect over a week without a charge. I do switch off overnight normally but it sometimes resets the usage.

Really impressive.

I've had iPad 3s and 4s last three weeks or more without charging (granted, minimal/no usage either).

Assuming 17 hours of usage was all onscreen time, that's the most impressive factor. Mind, the iPad 4 on iOS 6 had comparable screen-on time. Used as personal hotspot with the display off, I was able to get around 40 hours usage from the iPad 4.
I had the iPad 4 on iOS 6 for a short time until I updated it. (I said endlessly that was the decision I regretted the most regarding Apple devices ever.) and yes, the battery was incredible. My 9.7 Pro doesn't get anywhere close to that.
I still have an iPod Touch 5G on iOS 6 (I said that endlessly too) but as I don't have an iPod Touch on iOS 9 I cannot compare it.

The battery life on this thing is fantastic.

Currently on 58% with 8 hours usage and 30 hours standby.

I use it as a streaming device too so mostly watching video or playing games.

As much as I like my Air 2 I must say I miss the incredible battery life that 11000mAh beast known as the iPad 4 gave, one had to really battery that thing to get the battery to drop, lol.

The Air 2 is still good, but it's just nowhere near as good as 4 in battery life.
Was the battery of the iPad 4 even better than the battery of the iPad 2017? On the one hand, the capacity of the iPad 4 battery is much larger, but its components are not such efficient as them of the iPad 2017.

But was it possible to reach 17 hours screen on time with an iPad 4?

Iirc, yes, assuming low brightness (at least back when it was new and battery was still fresh). I typically use my iPad in low-light settings so mine is usually on minimum brightness (and on Marvin reader app, I even have extra dimming enabled).

Found a screenshot. I have email, etc. on manual fetch, no background music or anything so this is almost all onscreen time (mostly manga and ebook reading, with minor web surfing on low brightness). It doesn't last as long now but still easily does 12 hours of onscren time. Alas, even on iOS 6, it feels slower than the 9.7 iPP. Websites nowadays have gotten so much more bloated with JavaScript, etc.

I cannot remember how much Screen On Time I got with my iPad 4, all I know is that I could heavily browse and play games for an incredibly long time before having to plug it in.

There were times where I think I only charged my iPad 4 twice a week. On iOS6 the Battery was incredibly amazing, best I'd ever seen on any Battery powered gadget.

Indeed, that was great. But the iPad 2017 can reach these numbers.

Does anyone know? can anyone post a battery lasting time between the 2017 iPad and the 9.7" iPad Pro ?

I hope they keep the 10.5" iPad the same thickness as the iPad Air 2 but the slightly larger footprint and smaller components yield a larger battery. After nearly 3 years my iPad Air 2 battery is starting to dip a little. I also hope they can add a quick charge battery too.

Now that it's been almost 2 week since the release of 2017 iPad, how's the battery life?

It's a big upgrade from iPad Air 2.. From Air 2's 7,340 mAh to now 8,827 mAh.

How much battery life are you getting? I even heard people getting up to 14 hrs of battery life!!

What's your experience with it?

I have the iPad 2017 2 days ago, after my previous iPad pro gone for dead battery. I use Battery Care app to test the battery life and already after good use of 2 days my battery life lost 3% to 97% when was 100% just after setup.

I am not sure for how long the battery will last, does any one here keep track with battery life? Please let me know...

well, I would not get an iPad Air 2 in 2019, not even an iPad 2017

you should be able to catch an iPad 2018 at a reasonable price now

or you just wait a few months to see what the new rumoured iPads are like (and what those do to the pricing of older models):

the amount of storage space depends on your personal needs, really. If you want to install lots of apps, games and store loads of music and videos or pictures .. then 32 Gb won't get you very far

I own a 32 gb iPad and for me it is enough even though I do not use iCloud that much

It really boils down to your personal needs (and internet connection)
