Re upgrades: It is largely driven by RAM. Iphone X = 3Gb. This year, expect all "X" phones to also be 3Gb.
In 18months, 3Gb will be required for best experience (IOS13) and in 30m (IOS14), all the 2Gb devices will run slow.
The extra 1Gb in Ipad Pro, IphoneX etc will basically add 2 years.
Thank you! I was focusing so much on the processor, this is the part I was forgetting, the RAM. The iPad Pro 9.7 and the 2018 iPad both have 2gb. Thank you!
[doublepost=1522622980][/doublepost]Thank you all so much!
I've had this iPad 3 for 6 years, got it about a month after it was released. Not being able to update apps once they required higher than 9.3.5 isn't anywhere near the problem as how slow it has become. It is still in pristine condition, not a scratch on it. Just... painfully slow.
Reading all your comments, and thinking this through with not only what I use it for, but how long I plan to use it, the refurbished 10.5 iPad Pro (4gb ram, A10X processor) seems the best device for me.
I realize that whether June, September, or next year, a NEW! iPad Pro will be released. If the rumored upgrades (FaceID, no bezel, etc) happen, I'll be even happier I have this one. (How do you hold a bezel-less iPad?!)
Again, thank you!! I really needed to read your opinions, to get to this decision.
