It seems the bottom line is: while AT&T is working on a faster 3G network, Verizon will be deploying 4G LTE, Sprint will be deploying WiMax all while the Asian and European countries will already be surfing at 100Mbps.

It seems like we are usually behind however, what's the coverage area overseas and at what price? I don't know, just asking.
BTW, Sprint's 4G network has limited coverage. Also, their website lists their 4G average download speed at 3 to 6 Mbps and peak speed of 10 Mbps. AT&T's 3G is working up to 7.2 Mbps and the rollout is expected to be complete in 2011 or sooner.
However, the predictions I've read indicate a 3 to 5 year timeframe for complete rollout of 4G. Who knows? We are at their mercy.
