It just happened to me again with a 12W charger. I unplugged it and plugged it back in again and it started charging. I checked the lightening port and it's clean.

I was having the same issues. I also noticed that my iPad would warn me of 20% or 10% charge left but when I plugged it into a charger it would read 64% charged!

This issue has started happening on my IPad Pro on ios 11.2.

Starts to charge when plugged in, gains 10-15%, and then stops.

Woke up 2 times this past week with an un-charged IPad Pro.

This is happening to my new iPad Pro as well, and I had the same issue on my original iPad Pro just before I sold it. I was relieved to find this thread and see it's not just me!

This happens regardless of whether I use third-party charging cables or originals (I always use Apple wall warts). Charging will start fine, but cuts out quickly. I have to unplug from the iPad and plug in again to get charging back.

Like @MisterGrinch I've woken up several times to iPads with flat batteries, even though they've been plugged in.

My kid's Air 2 has this issue also. Frustrating...to say the least. That and the damn dock moving a third of the way up the screen in portrait and halfway off the screen in landscape....

Just looping back to my original post to report a solution to my problem in case others may benefit. I was charging my iPad Pro while in the “open” position and smart connected to my Logitech blutooth keyboard. The keyboard is charged through the ipad which according to an apple genius draws too much power through the charger so it apparently shuts itself down. I’ve now been closing my ipad at night and just plugging in at the side as I normally would and haven’t had an overnight re-charge failure since.

Updating iOS fixed this issue for me.
