Have an iPad Air that doesn’t have the white dot, I have a 10.5 Pro with a build date of Aug 2017, and I just started to notice a small white blemish 3-4 inches right above the home button. ? I just noticed this within the past week, gen though its not as bad as other pics I’ve seen, still a little sad. I really use my iPad for multimedia consumption, so its not terrible, but on white screens its slightly noticeable.

Fine here and still very happy with the Air.

I don’t know if I didn’t notice before but now I can see it ?

Mine is still under warranty. Does it develop over time and get worse? Or did it took some time to notice and it was there from the beginning? It’s quite subtile. Once you know it’s difficult to not see it.

It develpos over time, thats why there wasnt any reports on bright spot in air 3 for a long time. Same goes with pro 10.5. First reports showed after months. Idk if it will get as big as it could on pro 10.5. It looks like its located a little lower than in pro 10.5

Neither my nor my grandson’s Air 3 have the spot as of now. He’s had his about 9-10 months. I’ve had mine a couple months. Both get used daily.
Same here. Bought last Nov, still in perfect condition now. I use it 6-8 hours per day.

Bought 3 during Black Friday and none have the issue. A teardown of the device shows that Apple appears to have shielded that portion of the device this time around. Not worried at all about the problem occurring.

Best buy has a sale on the 3rd gen Air, $450 USD with a free screen protector so i bought one. It has a faint white spot above the home button. Gonna take it back.

I bought 4 of them for family members last Black Friday when they were on sale from AAFES for 250 dollars, and each and every one of them has developed the white spot issues. Same place pretty much on each of them. It's shameful that Apple hasn't addressed this problem in manufacturing.

It appears from anecdotal information that the added shielding reduced the probability of a white spot occurring but did not eliminate the possibility. Given how the Mini 5 can viewed as a miniature Air 3 but with almost no reports of white spots it can be assumed the split battery configuration - unique to the Pro 10.5 and the Air 3 - is the culprit and thus only iPads that avoid that configuration can be trusted not to develop any white spots.

Yep, the teardown ultimately proved nothing. I regret buying the 4 that I did. Fortunately I was able to unload mine and upgrade to the 4 recently. Both are great devices in their own right, but it's hard to be happy with a device you know Apple is knowingly selling with a defect.

I had same issue in my iPad Pro 10.5” and trust me, it affects each and every iPad Pro 10.5”. It will show up eventually and a local Apple repair store dude told me he gets 1-2 of these iPads daily for exact same problem.

Fully agree.

My brother's 10.5 iPad Pro (2017) has the white spot since 2020. My 10.5 inch iPad Pro has the white spot since June 2021.

Got both a Pro 10.5 (prod: year 2017, week 28) and an Air 3 (prod: year 2019, week 14) that still don't have white spot. *knock on wood*

Not true at all, I had a 10.5” pro for two and a half years, used constantly, no white spot. Brilliant ipad and the only reason I sold it on was because I was running out of storage - so I replaced it with a used 10.5” 256GB model (according to serial number checkers it was made in December 2017) and guess what, no white spot.
