Pro vote from me for double the storage, faster storage, brighter high refresh screen and the quad speakers.
Agree. If it were me buying the iPad, I would get the standard iPad. They all run iPad OS anyway with practically the same capabilities (minus stage manager).FWIW I've just bought a 9th Gen iPad today and it's bang on for my needs (standard iPad usage, emails/Chrome, iTunes, reading magazines etc)
The iPad Pro is overkill for that and got mine for £290 UK Sterling rather than c£500 upwards!
Unless you need the power of the M1 (or simply want it, which was me but couldn't justify that expense) then deffo try and steer her for the standard iPad!
The base iPad is the best choice for the majority of people.FWIW I've just bought a 9th Gen iPad today and it's bang on for my needs (standard iPad usage, emails/Chrome, iTunes, reading magazines etc)

Don’t waste time on the 3rd gen. Get at least 5th gen for the M1, Thunderbolt, and higher RAM. You’ll want to utilize the revamped external monitor support in combination with Stage Manager so 3rd Gen will miss out on too many features. It’s not always worth it to save a few bucks when spending a bit more will keep you future proofed.I'm in the same boat. Sold my iPad Pro 2nd generation and waiting... Maybe I can get an iPad Pro 3rd generation for a good price when the M2 will be available. Or if the M2 has some interesting feature I can get it.
I will not go for the Air 2022 because no pro motion display, lack of good audio and no 512gb model.

But the intended recipient here has convinced herself that she must get the M1 thanks to Apple's marketing.
Will she want to get the M2 if it’s released? She might be convinced in that direction as well….Agree. If it were me buying the iPad, I would get the standard iPad. They all run iPad OS anyway with practically the same capabilities (minus stage manager).

You will probably have to wait for the Gen 6 Air to be released before the Gen 5 refurbs are on Apple's site.Wife wants a Gen 5 Air so waiting for the refurbs but still none.
Well, I secretly wish Apple increase the M2 iPad Pro prices… 😂 That way the M1 iPad Air will look like the better deal. Will she want to get the M2 if it’s released? She might be convinced in that direction as well….
