What made the statement silly was claiming that the "...M1 air will be the better choice" without even seeing what a new Air might be.

Sure a large discount may make an older version attractive despite the shorter life cycle, but without seeing the size of the discount suggesting that the old version will be a better choice is wrong-headed thinking. Since tech is always advancing, older tech needs solid discounts to be justifiable.

The comment was made based on the rumours in the story stating what the new Air 6 would be.

You might be right and the new Air may be a more compelling upgrade than the rumours in this story suggest.

Or I might be right and find that the new Air is exactly the improvements as mentioned in the story. Not worth it for me. Wi-Fi 6E and next iteration of Bluetooth not worth anything to me at this point. You may think otherwise for your use case and that’s fine.
