Not happy with Targus Versavu - falls over

I just found this thread by searching too see if there were any other reviews for the Targus Versavu, as I am not overly happy with it. I paid $110 (Australian) for the navy one, a LOT of money.

- The plastic clip closes easily but I have great trouble opening it
- The iPad Air falls over when it's in portrait mode when it's on a table. It is slightly more stable when on my lap, as my legs are slightly 'uphill' I guess, but on a table I just touch the screen softly and it falls quickly and heavily. The ipad doesn't fall out, as the bracket is secure, but it is so loud and can't be good for my brand new ipad.
- I also seem to have a thing where the keyboard jumps around a bit as I type as an old laptop used to. Jury is out on that still, I can't isolate which particular keystrokes cause the cursor to jump to the start of the line above, but there is one or two that do!

Interested to hear if anyone else has any of these problems, as I think I will be returning mine

Re portrait mode. The only issue I have in portrait mode is. If I try to put it in portrait mode on its steepest angle, it will fall over as its too top heavy at that angle, in the same position in landscape view there is no issue.

Not sure what you mean? “The ipad doesn't fall out, as the bracket is secure, but it is so loud and can't be good for my brand new ipad”

Re the keystrokes causing the cursor to jump to the start of the line above. I think this is an issue with your iPad, rather than been caused by a case.

Overall I’m happy with the iPad Air Targus Versavu case apart from these small issues.

1: The closure method could be better, better thought out, but you get used to it.

2: Should have came with an auto sleep/wake feature. But to be fair, blame Apple for this has they have been known to move or change the magnet arrangements from an earlier iPad model to the next. Targus had to recall their iPad 3rd gen case because Apple did this on the iPad 3rd gen and Targus’s case wouldn’t sleep the iPad. Targus should have perhaps waited till the iPad Air was released and then tested their case with it to find the right position etc for the magnets. But you can mod the case yourself if you so wish.

3: The steepest viewing angle is only for landscape view, trying to use it in portrait mode makes it fall backwards due to it been top heavy. But the other viewing angles I find work fine in portrait mode.

To be fair, very few cases will give you everything you want, there’s always something on one case that you like that isn’t available on another. It’s whichever ticks the most boxes for your particular needs/uses. That’s what my opinion is on looking at various iPad Air cases.

There is only one angle for portrait mode that I can work out, it's the steepest mode. Otherwise there is no cradle/groove to sit the ipad air. Maybe you have a different model?

As to "Not sure what you mean? “The ipad doesn't fall out, as the bracket is secure, but it is so loud and can't be good for my brand new ipad”" - I mean the ipad is clipped into the case, when it falls backwards, it doesn't fall out of the case, but the case/ipad hit the table with force.

As for keystrokes, nope, the ipad doesn't have this issue at all.
I suspect my case/keyboard are a diff model to yours.
