I only say this once...

76 year old arthritic mom can easily hold onto an iPad. How many times does it have to be said, it's not heavy. Not even close to heavy.

But granny, you never said it before!

Anyway, the iPad is heavy for what it is. I used one for about three weeks and I actually found holding it tiring. Search for it and you'll see that it's not just my elderly people or I who consider holding the iPad for a length of time laborious.

A Kindle is fine to hold for 15-30 minutes, most paperbacks are. The iPad isn't.

Just isn't.

No, the iPad is heavy. It is heavy.

Yes, it is heavy work to hold the iPad over a length of time. It is because the iPad is heavy.

Heavy!

I've owned mine since April 3. You know how many times I've 'held' it? None. That's the trick. Put it on your Lap, lean it on your legs or stomach or chest. Table, rest it with one hand to support it.

You don't actually pick up a book and hold it in the air, do you? Of course not, you lean it on something, yourself or a table. I know no one that just picks up a book and holds it in the air.

It's a pound and a half. A book, is what a pound and half, maybe a pound and 3 ounces. Are you telling me you can work it with a book but not an iPad?

Of course, you don't hold it because it's heavy! I might have mentioned that before.

Why don't you try this with some elderly people and you'll see what the problem is... They don't like putting things on their chest, their eyesight is not the best and with that bloody glossy screen, angle matters greatly.

My mom puts it on her lap. So know why, because that's what people do. So now all older adults have eye problems ;). My mom had here cataracts done, she can see better than I can now. But by all means, you hold your iPad up in the air while the rest of us make it easier for ourselves.
