Did you find your 2015 iPP to be laggy in typing and browsing on iPadOS 14.x? Did you find the beta for iPadOS 15 to be much improved over 14? I'm reinstalling 13.7 to try to deal with the issues we are having with 14.x (14.3, 14.4, 14.7.1 - all have serious lagging problems).

I also have the first generation 12.9 on iPadOS 14 and don’t find it laggy. In what scenarios do you encounter these issues?

Web pages loading and just scrolling on webpages. Typing a text message in messages (the typing gets behind, like it is processing something then catches up). Same catchup typing issues in comments on webpages (making editing impossible). FB is a hot mess on safari and chrome both, with page elements not showing correctly, comments section being blocked by the keyboard.

I have both the 2015 and the 2018 12.9 and I don't find the 2015 laggy... except in some heavy websites like gmail and youtube, which only some more sophisticated users use, while most people just use the (much more optimized) apps.
My mini 4 has instead become very laggy on iPados 14 and I have decided not to upgrade my 9.7 pro and leave on 13. However I wonder how do you reinstall 13.7? Do you have to jailbreak the devices?
I tried to use imazing to reinstall an old backup and it gave errors. Will try again.

OK. I did a reset and erase all data. Didn't install any apps. I did download contacts, bookmarks, reminders, notes and keychain from the cloud. The touchscreen still has certain issues but other lagging seems to be better (for now).

My iPP 2015 was fine in iOS 14, also no significant lag in the early iOS 15 Beta either. Hopefully a wipe and reinstall will solve your problems. I just checked my old iPP 2015 which my wife now has. It now has iOS 14.6 on it and while it is not as snappy as my new iPP, browsing appears reasonably smooth.

Just a thought as your iPad is reasonably old, I am wondering if the battery is the problem. If the battery is at the end of its life, this may be the cause of your issues. Unfortunately unlike the iPhone there is not a built in battery health tool, but you can use an App on a Mac or PC called iMazing to assess the condition of your battery.

We replaced the batteries on both. My battery was only lasting about 2 hours. This touch/slow behavior happened several months after battery replacements.
