Well, if someone can spend the money and wants to have all possible sizes, then why not? Backups are also a good ideaAnother thing is, why not two minis and two pros? Keep one of each in your closet as backups.
I don’t think any serious app developers are counting that option right now.Except it now does. Swift Playgrounds. See my previous post so you can stop sending out inaccurate information.
Of course not but your statement was that it wasn’t possible and it has been entirely possible for months. The ability for a device to create software for itself really isn’t much of a requirement for anything.I don’t think any serious app developers are counting that option right now.
Not saying it’s a requirement per se, but if anyone wants to go iPad-only and wants to write serious professional apps for iOS, the iPad version of Swift is not going to get you all the way there yet. That’s all I meant. I’m sure it will get closer and closer in leaps and bounds as RAM increases.Of course not but your statement was that it wasn’t possible and it has been entirely possible for months. Most iPad software couldn’t be built just using Xcode either. A lot of software requires a complete command line toolchain. Just including Xcode in iPadOS wouldn’t attract many serious developers either.
It sounds like you are pleased with your new iPad, so I think you chose the right one! ?Ok, so I went to the Apple store today, they are still running a queuing system due to the pandemic to even purchase items, I had to wait 30 to 40 minutes just to buy my iPad! But they did warn me about the wait first. Hopefully they’ll go back to normal soon. Seeing as here in the U.K. all restrictions have been dropped.
Anyway, I had a good play with the iPad Mini 6th gen and iPad Pro 11”.
I had a play with the Apple Pencil and Pro Create, I’m a total novice but the Mini screen seemed fine actually for this, obviously the Pro had a bigger screen. But the Mini was fine.
Split screen worked ok on the Mini, I just tried it with two web pages. Text was readable. The widgets were also readable to an extent.
The one thing that struck me was the weight on the Mini, it’s almost nothing!
I also didn’t find the keyboard too intrusive when typing text either.
I opened some news paper articles and Mac Rumors threads to quickly scroll and see the jelly effect, I could just about see it.. but no it isn’t too bothersome.
However, in the end I got a 11” iPad Pro, because the Mini although nice, does have smaller text, and whilst the widgets are readable they are small.
but the screen quality just lacked something in my eyes next to the Pro, it is a tiny bit sharper due to the higher pixel density, but overall I just thought the Pro screen was a little bit better? Not just the pro motion, but I guess for the price increase it has to offer something more.
But the main noticeable difference was the speakers, the Minis speakers sounded now where near as good as the Pros quad setup, not bad but not on the Pros level. I watch tons of You Tube videos so for ‘my’ use I appreciate the better speakers.
I will mostly be using my iPad round the house though to replace my old 9,7” Pro, but if portability was a priority, I would have no issues at all getting the Mini.
Just for my eyes and ears, I’m not far off being 50 now, I have to concede to prefer the bigger screen.
I can’t comment on performance between the two as to me coming from my old tired iPad both the new ones are warp speed in use ?
I never understand why so many people around here write the quad speakers off as “useless” for the iPad Pro models. I have always appreciated the 2 extra speakers for sure. And it is absolutely nuts how much sound they have gotten pumping out of those slim little assemblies.

@Pezimak - well done and congratulations on your new iPad Pro.
They're definitely tinny if I compare them to my AirPods Pro, Sonos, or HomePods, but sometimes none of those things are available or near me. In those situations the Mac and iPad speakers have become more than good enough. I'm pretty impressed with how loud and clear they can be even without much bass. I do know some people have complained about rattle above a certain volume, but I've never experienced it.I’m not an audiophile but all iPad speakers still sound like tin cans to me. Plus circumstances usually require I use earphones so I’ve never put much value on iPad speakers.
