engadge just posted a screenshot of BB internal memo that shows ipad, 3 models and accesories, on launch date at BB. on April 11, all BB stores will have ipad and accessories.

now the question is which place is better to buy? BB got no restocking fee and less crowded. you don't have to wait for the Fedex guy until noon. or he might drop your precious a few times trying to unload the truck beforee lunch.

I might just cancel my preorder, or at least the case.

If there's no pre-order at Best Buy then you might be taking a huge risk of not being able to get one.

Already discussed in this thread. But I'll restate what I said there: based on experiences with my local Best Buy (I went into more detail in the existing thread), there is absolutely no way I would trust them to handle this launch competently, nor would I cancel my regular pre-order in hopes of scoring one there.

Recipe for heartbreak.

Just sleep until 11:45 and wake up when the fed ex guy comes. That way you don't have to wait.

I've seen a FedEx guy tossing and kicking packages down the stairs of their truck to the other FedEx guy waiting at the bottom, who then loaded them onto their dolly. That was the day I was waiting for my new MBP, and I happened to be sitting on my balcony, watching in horror, while that was going on. Luckily for me (and for them), that pile of packages was for the building across the street, and my MBP was carried separately into my building by the guy at the top of the stairs doing the kicking.

the worst case is that I have to wait until April 11 when all BB story will have.

at least I can get the case way earlier than Apple date.

how can you sleep when Fedex guy is dropping/kicking your ipad? to him, it is just another box. Later on your ipad got brain damage which cause more waiting time shipping it back to apple for a refurbished ipad.

These things don't have hard drives inside and they are shipped in the off state and well cushioned. I bet we could play volleyball with an iPod box for 20 minutes then open it up and power on the unit and it would work just fine for years to come. I know the dropping of packages is scary but it goes on whether you see it or not. How about falling off the conveyer at the Fedex sort facility when nobody's looking? It's not worth obsessing over the handling of the iPad box. Get AppleCare if you're worried. If I absolutely wanted one on Day 1, I would preorder. As it is, I'm relaxed about the whole thing. I have one reserved and will stroll in to the Apple store to see if there is a huge line before making up my mind if I really need one on April 3rd.

WTH are you even talking about?

If you want to cancel your Apple pre-order and go to Best Buy, just do it. You don't need anyone's permission.

It's not all BB stores. The articles that have been written on this so far say that only the ASC (Apple Solutions Consultant) locations will receive shipments on the store roll-out.

If you don't know if yours is one of these go to:

http://www.bestbuy.com/apple/

select your state and the locations on the list with an asterisk are the ASC locations. I do not have any BB ASC locations within approximately 100 miles.

Hate to break it to you but Best Buy doesn't manufacture iPad's on site at each store. They are shipped (or tossed) in "kicking and screaming".:D

Lets be realistic, items are packaged enough to handle that. If the packaging that Apple provides is so terrible that it can't handle some tossing around then you can only blame Apple. I get practically everything I own delivered from FedEx or UPS and everything has worked fine (17" uMBP, MacBook Air, Mac Mini, iPhone, desktop PC's, LCD TV's, etc). Quit worrying so much.

I am going to keep the one I have pre-ordered on order....if they end up in BB I will take the one back and get one from BB...here is why.

I will buy the damage insurance that covers the ipad for two years...I just know one of my kids will eventually drop the thing and break it. When that happens, take it back and get a new one.:)

My 4 year old dropped and broke the touch just a few weeks ago. It happens.

Do you think that shipping companies do any better delivering boxes to the Apple Store?

I'm just keeping my pre order, I'd rather sit at home and wait for Fed Ex to bring it to my doorstep than worry about long lines or them selling out. I'll play 360, or PS3 until Fed Ex comes.

Well me sleeping will make no difference on what he does.

your personal issue with BB is specific at your store. You can't use your incident for generalizing that all BB are bad.

TUAW is reporting that each Best Buy store that is eligible to sell them on launch is only getting 15 iPads per store with 5 of each size. I wouldn't count on trying to get one there, unless you plan to camp out to be first in line.

Exactly, it'll be just as bad as Black Friday so I'll just stick with my pre order straight from Apple. Waiting until noon isn't going to kill me.

dropping/kicking a box is much easier than dropping/kicking a pallet weighing half a ton.

That's exactly what I was thinking. Unless the loader drops the pallet off the dock (I've seen the results of that happening and the shipper trying to cover it up) it's a much easier ride.

if I receive my order from apple.com, Can I return at local store and not being charged restocking fee, unopen? within 14 days?

No restocking are those who are silver premier member like me. But I prefer apple. Why? Remember apple has a good customer service. How many times they replaced my iPhone 2G and the 3rd time they gave me a new one out of the box. Not refurb.

I had a lot of horror stories on BB. Damn, they don't even care even you are a regular customer..

if you buy from apple.com, can you return or get support from local apple store.
