iPad is a new category - comparisons are useless

I think two paths lead from here: Apple continues with the Mac as workhorse OS, and the iPhone OS as the mobile entertainment focused interface (as the iPad currently is), or, like MinimalMac states, the MacOS ends here with mouse and keyboard, and they will slowly turn to touch interfaces.

In either case, the iPad continues to be a home entertainment device, and in no way a netbook or tablet competitor

SO just because the iPad is esthetically similar to the iPhone, it is the same category? In that case, the ACD (Apple Cinema Display) is also the same. FAIL.

The iPhone and iPod are pocket based entertainment devices - always with you. The iPad sits at home, and you use it on the couch or in bed to read the news, or browser macrumors.
