With the price of an iPad Pro + Smart Keyboard, you can buy something better than a Dell 3000 series. But the point is, if you could not care less about computers and need them only for the most basic tasks, why should you spend more money on a personal computer?
That is true. For most people these days a phone is the only personal computer they need.

My iPad is a computer, i.e., it contains a CPU, and its personal (customsized to my usage), so yes. my iPad is a personal computer by the letter of the definition.

My iPad is not a personal computer in the spirit of the definition, since its unable to run apps that I need. People certainly can get away with just an iPad depending on their usage, but when people talk about desktop/laptops, its usually with powerful apps, and peripherals.

Can you elaborate more on your use case so others actually understand why you prefer the MBP? Thanks!
My MBP and 2012 Mac Mini serve as iTunes servers for my ATV2. I also get movies elsewhere and use iFlicks to convert them and import them into iTunes so that I can watch them on my ATV2. Can't do any of this on my iPad.

Thanks for weighing in. But did you really need to buy two iPads to find out that they cannot do these tasks at all?

I never bough the iPad to be a computer replacement. I knew it could never be so for me. I'm just bored with them and have no need for them anymore.
