Carry a dark colored sheet with you. Put it over your head and iPad when it's too bright b

Anyone that brings their iPad to the pool or beach is crazy. That's just asking for something terrible to happen to it.

I disagree. When I cranked the brightness while outside in the So Cal sun yesterday I could see it just fine.

Exactly right.
Also, I noticed that the screen magically disappears when you put sunglasses on.
There are no issues in sunlight... just don't wear sunglasses. Same for iPhone.

I often walk along the street reading a book in the iPad's Kindle app. This is the same situation with all glossy screens, you just get used to it over time. Anyway, darker weather's coming now for us in the northern hemisphere.

the iPad is definitely a non winner in direct sunlight. I wish there was a removable antiglare screen protector that I could pop on when outdoors and remove when inside.

Polarised lenses don't play nice with some displays as many also have a polarised filter on them.

I agree with you about taking it to the beach being crazy but not a pool. If I have a pool at my house I am insane to relax on a chair beside my pool and use my iPad? I am with you about the beach though because glass screens and sand really don't mix well. Scratches are all but unavoidable there.

Thats what I end up doing when in the car... parked of course. I see the screen just find. Its not a kindle but its not totally unreadable.

You are supposed to take an iTent with your mobile device. As Apple might have informed you, the device is not just magical but it's also revolutionary. Police forces don't like revolutions, so you should just stay indoors, anyway!

Whatever you do, don't ask the girl on the lounger next to you, how come she can read her Kindle out in the sun, while you can't on your iPad.

She'll just diss you. And then make a snide comment about how expensive her sunglasses are.

I actually had my Kindle delivered a few days ago. I didn't give it a proper try yet but I have high hopes. I had an e-reader before and I actually missed the e-ink. I purchased the Kindle to read through Pdf files, rather than damage my eyesight with Apple's glossy screens. I just wish there was a decent colour e-ink screen available for mobile devices!

I suppose using it at your OWN pool is not such a bad thing. But at a public pool, etc.....yea no thanks. There are way to many dumb kids running around to risk it. And you wouldnt be able to go to the bathroom without bringing the Pad with you unless you have someone there to keep an eye on it.

Regular sunglasses work for me. It's all about the angle you hold it.

How else do you think people use iPhone outdoors?:rolleyes:

À coworker has a Sony ereader and I can't stand the changing of the pages where it blips and blinks.
Today was a bright sunny day over here and I've been reading a lot in my hammock. But I tend to keep out of the sun and if I'm in the sun I'm holding the iPad in-between my eyes and the sun.
Works for me.
