Hardly. Thing looks like the size of large Mac book turned sideways. The iPad is as big as I want to go for a mobile device.

That's an absolute beast. It's massive, heavy and looks like it will be expensive but I like that it's focusing on one area and trying to do that well - education. Whether that's enough for it to find a market though, I don't know.

Interesting find.

5.5 pounds???? They REALLY want to recreate the textbook experience. I can only speculate what a KnoPhone would look like: 3 pounds with a rotary dial?

I love the picture of that girl at the library next to the guy with a book. The look on his face haha.

Why do all the people in the promotional material look like they are laughing at the girl using the Kno? Is this serious?

Sounds somehow... familiar:

Yes, our platform is very developer-friendly. Our Software Development Kit (SDK) supports web technologies such as JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS, so the large community of web developers will find it to be a seamless transition.
And

Kno knows that we can’t do it alone. We invite third-party developers – including students – to help us build our App Store.

(quotes from Kno website).

Given that "App Store" is a Service Mark of Apple (http://www.apple.com/legal/trademark/appletmlist.html), are they looking for a bit of trouble?

looks like hi tech tablets that Moses would of had gotten if he was around today.

What student will want to lug around 5.5lb, 14" x who know thick, device. when you can carry a 1.5 iPad that does a lot more.

Bring the weight to 3 pounds or less, run webOS or something fast on it. Give it the things the iPad is missing (flash, file system, camera, USB, sd card, stylus, handwriting) and it might find it's niche.

But 5.5 pounds of goodness is too much.

That thing is ridiculously huge. They need to rethink this before they lose a ton of dough.

Looks like a Flintstones' iPad.

With the right delivery, not such a bad thing...
