In and out in 5 minutes at my local Apple reseller.

Did anyone sign up for 3G data plans yet? Does Telus offer a plan yet? How's Bell for 3G connectivity, I have Rogers with the iPhone.

the linea t yorkdale was pathetic, there were more employees than people waiting in line. which was AWESEEOME

^ thats good to hear

maybe i should go by there instead.

buddy called he said the line for the ipad was pretty long at the Fairview Mall location.

Maybe i will go to Best Buy. get some rewards zone points

how come the micro sim card costs 10 dollars at bestbuy/futureshop and only 0.20 cents at the apple online store.

Get a free Bell micro SIM at the AppleStore St. Catherine !
They give them ou for free, while you have to pay 10 bucks at futureshop.

You probably also get the Robbers SIMcard for free if you ask.

Thanks to a nice guy at St. Catherine street store

I arrived there this morning at 7:45 and there were several hundred people in line.
I did already order my iPad online, all I needed was an iPad camera connection kit since I am going on vacation next week, and I don't want to bring a laptop.
So I asked a few people if they would mind buying the kit for me while I wait outside (the store would open only at 10 a.m. for non-iPad customers).
One woman overheard the conversation, and offered to buy it for me. So I gave her my drivers license and was on the way to get some cash. When she came out of the store, she told me, she couldn't do it, because she "freaked out" - major blow....
Then I asked another fellow, who agreed to do it, and about 5 minutes later he came out with my iPad kit ! - Thanks again to this nice guy for helping me out !

Yup, Rogers and Bell sims free at Apple Stores. Got a Rogers and Bell sim for my American bought iPad 3G. Total came to $0

I got to Toronto Eaton Centre around 9am and there was no line up. Super fast checkout. They said there were around 200 people at 8am but they got them sorted quickly.

I swung by it at 8am (it's on my way to work) and there were a lot of people there. I'm going to pick one up on my walk home when I get off work (if they have any left!)

If I knew they would get through the whole line by 9am I would have stuck around and went to work a little late.

Dropped by my local Best Buy in Ottawa at around 11am. I spent a long time playing with the demo model trying to decide if I really wanted to justify dropping $700 on one of these things. Then I took a deep breath and bought one. Lots of stock of the bigger capacities, but I took the last 16 gig + 3G model. No line-ups, but a lot of people looking at the displays.

I know some of my friends were heading out to line up at the Rideau Apple Store as early as 7:00am this morning... guess I shouldn't tell them about my purchase ;)

Oh, and the micro SIM cards were free, I got mine for Bell. It came up in the system as $9.99 but he adjusted it to $0.00 when purchased with the iPad.

Hahah I lined up at Rideau but I'm glad I lined up at the time I did despite the fact that I could have easily came an hour later and been fine - since there was only 30 or so people in front of me, I was able to get in and out and get to work on-time. If I had waited till later, I might have ended up being in line for a while and had to work an extra hour or two to make up for it.

I am dying to use my iPad right now but there's not much I can do at work besides fiddle with the calendar. I'm gonna go on an app buying spree when i get home though. Stupid government, no wi-fi here.

Me too, it's sitting here with that frustrating "connect to iTunes" screen. I thought about swinging by my house first before coming back to work but I really can't be taking that long of a lunch break... I'll have to wait until after I get home.

I should have brought it to their store display Mac and asked if I could activate it there!

Now I need to figure out what case to buy.

Hello from my new iPad!!!!!!!!

The toronto eaton centre store is packed. They they're flying off the shelves but they still have a decent amount of stock. They have about a hundred piled behind the counter. If you go there to get one tell the greeters at the front and they'll get someone to help you so you can get out faster. I was out in like 5mins.

No lineups

Just got back from the South Edmonton Common Best Buy and the place was almost empty! They had, as far as I could tell, lots of iPads in stock in every variety. I was in and out in less than 10 mins with my 32 gig wifi iPad.

I went to the best buy in gloucester at about 11:50am. There were no major lines, just about two people ahead of me in store. Apparently the east side stores (including future shop) did not get the 16gb 3G model.

Anyways, grabbed a 32gb 3G model instead of going to south keys or Merivale, got the sim card for free, and headed home.

I am now typing on it as we speak.

Funny thing is, I went to future shop first and overheard them trying to sell a setup fee to a customer on one. I could not believe my ears!

Anyways, I LOVE it!
