I have the original 12.9” Pro. I have had it through iOS 9.5 to iOS 11 and have had no slow down and I’m going on almost two years of ownership. I think it will last 4 years at least as long as it keeps working.

Same, maybe even 5 total. I’ve seen no slowdown with the apps i need the horsepower for most (procreate, draw, etc). Im interested in the lower latency of the pencil in the newer 12.9 but ive been perfectly happy with the pencil on the first gen so thats not a reason for me to upgrade.

So i doubt i’ll upgrade next year but maybe the following.

I'll probably never buy an iPad Pro again after this one. I like the pen support and keyboard but will probably not buy another tablet after it.

My spouse is still using her iPad 3 on a near nightly basis. She does not use it for productivity, but rather email, texting, and video consumption. While it can not be updated to newer and more secure iOS's she is not currently using it for financial transactions so there are no concerns.
Apple products if taken care of, last a really long time.

Same here. My wife uses my old 3 every day for streaming. I keep telling her i’ll buy her a new one and she says dont waste the money, it does what she needs it to do.

I used iPad Pro 9.7 last year and upgraded to 10.5
Recently got the iPad 2017 from Costco as they are just for $270
iPad 2017 is very capable and I don’t use pencil or keyboard, just browsing on safari. Besides the speakers, I dont miss the laminate screen on the 10.5 Pro coz after I put on the tempered glass screen protector, screen is very glossy anyways. Also I expect more from the iPad 10.5 like faceid and 3D Touch and I am also recouping $350 after I sold my iPad 10.5. Maybe next year when there is a redesign I will jump back to the pro.

Costco also has the 9.7" Samsung Tab S2 for $280 and the 8" for $240. Both have very excellent amoled screens. I have both and am thinking of getting a backup. They are the old models, which I think I like better than their new models with the stupid glass backs.

Still using my 5.5 yo iPad 3, the one big lemon of iPads. It has loading issues with pages with many embedded Youtube videos but otherwise works just fine, with 30+ Safari pages open all at once with no problems. Smoother than my 1 yo Samsung tab, which admittedly is at the lower end among Samsung tablets.
