cellular or wifi

For me I always go cellular. Sure it costs about 20 bucks a month for unlimited data. But for me I don’t like using public WiFi. I’m on the go a lot, and with my job I’m able to use vpn and do my work wherever I am. I could use a hotspot but I find that they are slower and drain the phones battery which is not ideal when I’m on the road.

I’ve had cellular iPads and WiFi only and i find that when I have a WiFi only iPad I keep wishing for cellular.

If you can afford the extra $150 for a cellular iPad then get it, unless you only use the iPad at home, and never take it anywhere, you will end up wanting cellular at some point. And with esim on the iPad it’s super easy to purchase prepaid data.
Your point about the battery draining because of hotspot is somewhat reduced with this iteration. The iPad can charge the phone, so if you connect them the iPad can just keep it charged up. Pretty sweet imo.

My company has the worst - WORST guest wifi where eventually it doesn't even work. I prefer to keep LTE signals, even at work. It's worth the cost over the years.

It's interesting how everyone's world is different. I work about 10 mins from my job, I drive there. I have wifi there, and I have wifi at home. So even when I wanted to use cellular, there are not many places. I have an iPhone, so like someone said above, I never needed to use it as a GPS map (my iPad that is). So as much as I wanted to have a use case for the cellular, it just never happened in the 7 years of owning iPads. So this time, I went WiFi only. One of my kids has WiFi only, the other has my old cellular model, and we never subscribe to it anyway. They just use the tethering off our iPhones. Which will be plenty fine for me as well.
